Picking the wedding date for Valentine's Day...?

Eriko, on January 4, 2019 at 2:34 PM Posted in Planning 0 3

Hello all! I have a question about vendor pricings around Valentine's Day.

I originally planned my wedding date w/ my soon-to-be husband to be 02.02.2020 (of course because of the significance of the date), but I found out that due to being it a Sunday and my local church not holding weddings on Sundays, I may need to change the date.

So I would like it to be either 02.01.2020 or 02.14.2020, but prefer the latter. I'm assuming pricings for vendors (e.g. flowers) will go up around Valentine's Day...but is it significantly more expensive? Also, for people who have done research around this, will the prices be lower if it's not the same week as Valentine's Day, but still the month of February?

I don't really think vendors are going to be more expensive for Valentine's day, it's not like it's a major holiday. If anything, availability will probably be limited.

I think you should do your research in the area that you’re living in and find out if it’s more expensive or less .February 14 would be awesome to get married that’s my birthday and I want to get married on Vday but having a Valentine’s Day a birthday and a Wedding it’s a little too much

Hi Eriko! Welcome to WeddingWire and congrats on your engagement! Your Valentines Day wedding sounds absolutely lovely!

I have not heard of vendor/venue pricing going up on Valentines day, as they typically have set prices/packages for their services. However, it is a good idea to have this in-mind and you could definitely ask the vendors your interested in if it makes any sort of impact on their service. Agreeing with Caytlyn, it will mostly just impact their availability but pricing shouldn't be affected.

Have you started researching any venues or vendors yet? Smiley heart
