I know our budget and so I'm trying to hash out as much as I can and narrow it down to a manageable list before presenting it to FH for us to check out in person/ schedule tastings and book.

Girl you do not want to pay your vendors the whole amount a year before your wedding happens. What happens if one of them goes out of business or disappears...Google Noah's Event Venue and look at all of the crap those couples are going through trying to get their money back. So many people getting married this year whose vendors, especially venues, don't want to work with them or give them their money back. The wedding business is going to be very volatile the next couple of years especially if they try to force a lockdown on us again. Put your money in a separate wedding bank account (high yield savings account) and let it sit there and earn a little bit of interest.

Also, most vendors have terms on which you pay them. Places require a deposit to book. When I booked my photographer I had to give him 25% with a signed contract in order to book. Same deal with caterer.

I wanted something in the winter when everything would have died down and things are alot cheaper at that time!

Honestly, my birthday is October 20 and his birthday is December 22. And I said how cute would it be if we got married in November 21st?

He thought it was a cute idea and we went with that day. 🥰

Since you're getting married in 2023, you'll defienitely have first dibs for dates at whatever venue you choose! So here are some things to consider:

    1. What time of year would you like? Summer, fall? Spring is a great time too. Winter weddings will always be the cheapest, but you have the gamble with how the weather will be! Be on the lookout for what the venues consider the "off months". I was originally going to get married at the end of April (thanks, corona), because my venue considers April an "off month", so everything was way cheaper than it would have been in May-October! by keeping an eye out for deals like this, you will be paying a similar price even three years from now!

    2. Budget: How much do you want to spend? Buffet style dinner or full service? Open bar? (buffet style is always cheaper by the way!).
