Picking a date

Katherine, on May 14, 2019 at 5:08 PM Posted in Planning 0 8
Hi everyone,
I’m having the hardest time picking between two months to have my wedding. I’m trying to decide between May 2020 or Oct 2020. Do any of y’all have some pros and cons of each?
Thank you!

I think the real determining factor here is how you picture your day. Also whether it will be an indoor/outdoor or all indoor event. I personally would choose a fall wedding over a spring wedding 10000 times over. I love the colors of fall, the cool weather, everything about it. Spring weddings are also great, but in my area, there's a much higher chance of rain and humidity. I'm also not a fan of typical spring colors.

I am getting married this October, so i am partial 🙂. But I agree with PP. What is your vision? Bright color or warmer colors? What are the temperatures like where you live during those months? Fall is gorgeous where I live, so we are doing an outdoor wedding. It also rains here often in the spring/summer. So that helped us with our decision. So think about those factors. Also, look at venues you like. If one you like is already booked in May, but is available in October, I would pick October!

I’m partial to spring and am planning for May 2020. I think it’s important to think about where are you getting married (what state or region) and do you envision an indoor or outdoor event?

My FSIL thought she was going to plan an all outdoor wedding at the end of Oct in PA...Um, yeah, NOT a wise idea...lol

I'm May 2019 so a little bias as well lol. I agree with the other ladies. It all depends on the vision you have for the big day. Once you decide that, the season should be easy to choose.

It completely depends on how the seasons are in your area and whether you're planning for an indoor or outdoor ceremony. If you're planning on an outdoor ceremony, but spring is usually pretty wet where you live, October might be your better option.

You might also take a look at what vendors charge in your area and see if they fluctuate depending on the season - if things are significantly less expensive during one month over the other, that can really help out your budget.

I think I’m more worried about the weather more than anything. I love October weather but my colors go with May.

I will just say that I'm getting married in October of this year and one thing to consider with an October date is it is very competitive (basically the new June) and you will want to make sure that you are booking early because vendors get booked out for this month like crazy! But I've always wanted October so I entered the rat race with determination LOL
