Photographer/videographer experienced with anxiety/body image issues

Stephanie, on September 7, 2024 at 7:46 AM Posted in Florida Planning 2 2
I’m getting married in March and have been trying to make it as calm as possible but the Photographer/videographers I have contacted have been very pushy and their style is not for me (too dramatic and focused on material things). I know that I need someone who understands that I don’t like taking pictures and to approach it with kindness and sensitivity rather than making me feel like I have to fake smile and do a bunch of pictures and poses I don’t like. It’s hard for me to speak up when I want to and I just want to feel comfortable the day of.

In my experience, photographers just give out fake compliments and try to make you react the way they want you to. I want something more real, even if I don’t “look as happy”, I know that I can be myself and not have to mask.
I also don’t want the camera in my face the whole time. My friend suggested looking for a Photographer/videographer who is experienced working with neurodiversity, anxiety, and body image.

My budget is $**** for both video and photo. We really don’t need more than 4 hours and just want the mains (first look, ceremony, speeches, first dances, and part of the reception). I can’t stand pictures when I’m getting ready and want the photos and videos to focus on the people, not the material things. Many of the styles are very dramatic and we want something less edited and more laid back. More of a documentary style video as well.
Please let me know if you have any suggestions!

Keep looking and stay strong! Remember, YOU are the holder of their paycheck, so you call the shots. I found an amazing husband/wife team that 100% listened to me. Things like more natural poses, no "getting ready" stuff and only a few formal "staged" group photos. I am in love with what they captured, and I rarely knew they were there - even during the first look!! If you can provide some of your favorite photos that have been taken of you - share them with potential photographers and tell them WHY you love that photo. ou could also check out colleges nd see if there are photography students looking to build their portfolio. Not only will they be affordable, they are also going to want a good reference and may be more willing to do things your way. Good luck !!
