Photographer prices?!

We can’t decide on a photographer! Some are priced reasonably low but some others are priced sky high for wedding packages.. We don't have a budget but don’t want to break the bank with a photographer.. but then we were thinking of the saying “You get what you pay for” lol especially for this...

I’ve heard horror stories about photographers before, missing certain moments and I couldn’t imagine that happening 😬 - how much did you all spend on a photographer??

Like I wouldn’t pay 3500 for someone who isn’t going to give printing rights, because you’ll be paying much more when you want prints of the photos later on!

At the end of the day, the photos are the only thing you’ll have (other than your spouse and memories) to remember all of the details of the wedding. In my opinion, this rationalizes spending a good chunk of the budget on a photographer. We’re paying $4000 for a husband/wife team for 9 hours. Our package included engagement photos and will include a 10x10 album as well. After narrowing down the style we liked (photojournalistic), we met with 3 photographers whose pictures we liked to see full portfolios, hear their background, etc. We ended up with the most expensive of the 3 because I kept going back to their photos as my favorite. After seeing our engagement photos, I’m SO glad I splurged. I know they’ll deliver on at the wedding itself.

I got quotes ranging from $900-4000 😳 our budget is very tight but I chose my photographer based off of my gut feeling and with our budget in mind. Our package is 1400 for 6 or so hours. Our venue is pretty strict about photography timeframe and we won’t be doing a first look or anything so we will have about an hour or so of pre-ceremony pics, ceremony, cocktail hour and a few hours of reception pics.

We went with a highly rated photographer after reviewing his sample wedding galleries. The package cost $5250 for 8 hours with a single shooter and included an engagement session. No travel fees as he is located near our destination wedding, and the wedding album is a separate cost. He captured all the special moments of the day and we loved the end result! Our professional wedding gallery included 650 photos.

Definitely do your research! Don’t just go with the cheapest or the most expensive price. Check out each photographers portfolios, Instagram, Facebook photography accounts that you are considering and have a phone call with them. We are paying $4100 for ours but we are getting our engagement photos, 2 photographers, 9 hours of coverage and 10% off for life for any pictures we want her to do in the future. We haven’t met her yet but we love her work and past weddings she has done and from the phone calls and emails we had with her so far have been nothing but professional and personable! We are so excited to work with her for the wedding and in the future!

(We are in PA but our photographer does travel)

We are getting two shooters for 8 hours for $1200. He actually got married at our venue and specializes in small weddings. We spent a lot of time going over reviews and portfolios and we’re confident in our choice.

We are paying 700 for four hours of photography. She will start for the ceremony and that gives us a couple hours into the reception. MIL does photography as a side job and wanted to do our getting ready photos, so that helped.

I guess I win for cheapest, my photographer is only $400 for four hours. It seemed like it was her, then it all jumped to the thousands for photographers. And that just wasn’t in the budget. I loved her portfolio bit still, I was hesitant and worried. Then we decided to do an engagement shoot for an extra $100. All doubts gone! She got great pics, had a great attitude with a difficult picture taker (me!) and just all around impressed us. No more doubts for the wedding!

We thankfully had a WONDERFUL lady for our engagement photos, so she is tried and true! Her prices are kind of higher than we thought a photographer would be, but overall we're quite happy to spend it - and confident in her quality of photos. She is $1700 for 8 hours. Smiley smile

We are in Denver and paid $3,200. The package included an engagement shoot (print release with 100+ edited images), 8 hours wedding day, 800+ edited images, print release, and all pictures (unedited).

My photographer is 3300 which includes engagement photos and a second photographer at the wedding. This is for 6 hours.

I'd say aside from my all inclusive venue, he's the most expensive vendor. I loved my friend's engagement and wedding photos and knew who I wanted immediately. I've seen many wedding photographer's work and I just like his aesthetic.
