Photographer prices?!

on September 2, 2019 at 8:59 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 33
We can’t decide on a photographer!

Some are priced reasonably low but some others are priced sky high for wedding packages..
We don't have a budget but don’t want to break the bank with a photographer.. but then we were thinking of the saying “You get what you pay for” lol especially for this special day.. I’ve heard horror stories about photographers before, missing certain moments and I couldn’t imagine that happening 😬 - how much did you all spend on a photographer??

Thanks ! That’s part of our problem — each photographer we have talked to has quoted us for basically the same package and the prices are all so different🤦🏼‍♀️ I told FH she could take over for this lol

This is where I really felt that I could spend. The photos are what we have to look back on and show how everyone felt that day! We are paying 3500 for 8 hours Photography with 2 photographers, an engagement session, and a lingerie boudoir session (secret wedding present) for an OUTSTANDING photographer who shoots at our venue like 3x a month. Also I actually feel like we got a steal considering the other quotes I was seeing for JUST photography

We did have a budget but what some photographers ask for... does not match their work. We found a woman who had been doing photography for 16 years, as a side job, so she didnt ask as much. $850 for 10 hours, plus our engagement shoot. I loved what I saw in her portfolio. My biggest advice is look at their work.

I went for a bit cheaper photographer and I hate to say it but I got what I paid for. Lots of missed pictures and not much creativity 😢. Cut back somewhere else if you have to

We are spending 800$ for two photographers for all day long. The only reason it is this cheap is because my fh went to school with our photographer so he is giving us a very hefty discount.

Best piece of advice is look through their portfolio! You will learn a lot about their abilities & their style by doing that. Also, read reviews!! We spoke/met with several photographers before choosing ours. Her packages were priced, what I consider, average for our area. 2 shooters for 6 hours for $2,000. We also had her do our engagement photos. So far we have loved her, not only as a photographer, but also as a person.
I’d offer the same advice when searching for your videographer, though they tend to be a little more expensive.

I think you should check their work and see if you like it. All photographer have their own style of shooting, the colors, the poses and that’s something you can simply see on their Instagram or website and I highly recommend this. I personally wanted a great photographer so u stretch my budget just for this. My photographer was $3500 for 7 hours and she has a team of 3. She was an amazing fine art photographer that works with natural lighting. I also recommend to meet with them in person to see if they give you a good vibe. You spend a looooot of time with them and you need to feel comfortable.

The photographer I hired was running a special, $3200 for 10 hours of photography( 2 photographers) and videography. I couldn’t pass that up since photography in the NYC/New Jersey area is super expensive.

$600, I asked around everywhere if these pro multi-thousand dollar wedding package photographers would allow me to pay by the hour, keep in mind most said no! But I kept trying.
It helps to have a weekday wedding, no way anyone would say yes for a Saturday.
    I’m very excited!!

I think photographers were my most contacted vendor. I probably reached out to 20+ people until I found mine. We are getting her for 9 hours and a second shooter for 6 hours for 3400

I agree with "you get what you pay for" . This is one area we didn't want to skimp on. We are paying $3,000 and I feel very confident with our photographer choice Smiley smile

When researching a photographer, look for all of their social media platforms! If the photographer has an Instagram, you will be able to see posts that other people have tagged them in. It’s like an additional set of reviews. If they have been tagged by a lot of customers who are bragging about how much they loved working with them, that’s a good sign!
Also don’t forget to ask things like if you will have printing rights, access to all photos or only a limited number, will you get a flash drive with the photos or only have a link to a site that’s only open a certain number of years, etc!
