Photographer help!

Okay my wedding is a little shy of a year away and I’m looking at photographer options. I’m just wondering how much one typically spends on a photographer and how many photographers you would recommend? (1 vs. 2)

The number of photographers depend on how small or big your wedding is. They all have different packages that range financially so the first thing you want to look at is what your budget is for a photographer. There's a few gems you can find through www.thumbtack.com as well.

I'd recommend hiring a photographer and splurging for a second shooter with them. That's just my personal preference.
But photography is SUPER important to me. (I booked my wedding date based on my photographers availability.)
Price can also depend on where you are. I'm in a lower cost area and our photographers we've seen prices for range anywhere from $1,600-$6,400.

I'm paying $3200 for 2 shooters, 8 hours, and engagement session. Photography was one of my most important things so I was okay spending more of the budget on it.

We’re paying $4000 for two shooters, 9 hours, an engagement session, and a 30 page album. Style was most important to me and when I found my photographers here on WW, I just knew they were the ones I wanted to shoot our wedding.

The price is really going to depend on the area you live in. But expect to spend a couple thousand for a good photographer. We have booked 2 photographers because we feel this gives us the best chance of capturing all of the important moments from multiple angles. For example, when I’m walking down the isle, we will get photos of me & my FH at the same time. With 1 photographer, you won’t get that.

We are paying $1200 for our photographer who will have an apprentice with him. We are booking them for about 8 hours and will receive a photo album as well. We lucked out on the price for our area as most that we looked at were anywhere from $1500 (with bare minimum included) up to $5000 (for all day and everything). I really didn't want to spend more than $1500 max but still wanted at least a little something for it and a friend of mine introduced us to our photographer and it was perfect!

Mine is $3,200 and comes with a second shooter. After meeting with my photographer, I knew I wanted a second person. The main photographer will be with the girls for hair and make up and the second shooter will be with the boys as the get ready in the morning. Since the boys will be done before us, the second photographer will go to the venue to take shots of the venue before the ceremony. I also love that we will get two different angles/perspectives during the ceremony.

My dad is paying for our photography. We are getting 2 photographers, all day coverage, and a photo album at the end and he is paying $2500. Our photographer is also the owner of our venue.

a photo by our second shooterPhotographer help! 1

We paid $3,000 for our photographer and that package included a second shooter. I absolutely recommend having 2 shooters to maximize your time (i.e. ensuring that each one can be with you getting ready as well as your fiance at the same time and not having to add additional time) and to get different angles and photos that the main shooter or second shooter may not get. Our thought was: it's our only wedding day, why wouldn't we want potentially twice as many photos? We got them back and it was worth every penny.
