How much of your wedding budget is being used up for photography/video? I feel like we were blessed to find a venue that for the price of per person includes our cake and cake cutting, set up and clean up, open bar, and a few other things that would otherwise be considered extra on the budget. We are already saving on decor by doing lots of DIY pieces, and my dress is not outrageously costly. I had originally fallen in love with one very affordable photographer, and though I am not out of love with them...I have come across someone that swept me of my feet with their work. The problem is my fiance thinks its too much money because its nearly double what the first one is, with only about 3 bonuses (ei. engagement session, 2 more hours, and 2nd photographer)! I don't want to be a brat about it, and thankfully hes at least willing to meet the 2nd photographer, but I'm afraid he''l still think its too much money.

Don’t buy the whole 10-15% of whole budget is photo/video. It doesn’t apply to many couples.

    1. Every couple has diff priorities. Personally I’m spending a lot more (1000 Engagement shoot + 4000 day of coverage + 5500 videography) because photo/video is my #1 priority. For my budget, that’s much higher than 10-15% but worth it to get exactly the vendors and artistic styles I want. Photos/videos will hold our memories of the wedding. Flowers, decor, food, etc are all perishable. Venue still belongs to original owner after the contracted hours have passed. None of those things are anywhere close to as important for me. How would you personally rank photo/video in terms of importance to you? How does your fiancé? He just may but value photos as much as you do. Discuss what’s a reasonable compromise. That will help you choose.
    2. Every regional area/market is different. I’d LOVE to pay **** like a lot of brides on this thread and this website. However, in my area, there’s no one available at those prices. Even if I compromise and choose artists who I think are bad or just mediocre, I still can’t find anything at that price unless all you want is an engagement shoot or a 2-4 hour elopement. Research what the typical prices are for your area. We all live in diff places and hence have diff vendor rates.
