Photo Booth...to do or not to do...that is my question?

Did you have a photo booth? Was it worth it? Did guests enjoy it? In my area, they are about $900 for four hours. I am just looking to see any type of experience with one...good or bad. Looking to see if the extra expense would be a value. Thanks.

I went to a bridal expo and got a special discount there, I wasn’t intially planning on having one but I thought the price was really good $250 for two hours (our wedding is small so I think this will be enough time, but if not I can add on for $100/hr day of).

I'm having one it came as a package deal with my photographer we also opted not to do specific favors since guests will get copies of the oi tures and we are doing a treats station! So with our phot booth we decided to also make it fun and have everyone post their extra as a picture guest book, I cannot wait to see it all come together!

We are doing one at our wedding. I wanted different things for our guess to experience during our wedding. It also acts as a thanknyou gift as well. The thing is we are giving thank you gifts along with the pictures from the photo booth.

We had one, and it was absolutely worth it. We had so much fun and our guests raved about it. It was cool too, because for every photo strip printed, a copy was placed into an album for us. Our was an add on witb our DJ though, so jy was only $400 for up to 10 hours with unlimited prints.

We are doing a photo booth because it was included in our DJ package. I also think they are super fun though. My friend had one at her wedding and it was a huge hit and everyone got copies of the photos that they took and then they made a photo album for the bride and groom afterwards which was super cool.

We originally wanted one, but when we saw the cost for a quality PB we nixed it as we are trying to cut where we can. So, instead we are doing a polaroid-selfie station type of deal. Our dual arches will be repurposed and put in the reception location, and we are going to set it up with a sign and a polaroid camera and some film, and ask guests to snap pics themselves, keep on for them and leave us one for a guestbook. Saves about $900 bucks, yet still as efficient.

Originally I wanted a photo booth, but they're about 1k here. I saw some other ladies talking on here about alternate guest entertainment options, and a few people brought up a caricature artist. I just thought that was the coolest, unique idea. I have never seen it at a wedding before. But that's what we went with.

450 for 5 hours instead of 1000 for 4 hours...it was an easy decision. And my guests still take something home! Their favors will be their drawings, and he includes plastic covers for them so they don't get ruined Smiley smile I am so excited.

Edit: We found our artist right on WW! If anyone is interested

IMHO, these were over 10 years ago. I don’t understand the need for them as almost everyone has a phone and takes pictures themselves. I think it’s funny when people say they don’t want their guests being bored. What happened to dancing, eating, mingling, talking? I think many people are already obsessed with selfies, why feed the monster?

I'm already $1k over budget so I can't afford to add a photo booth. I'm buying a backdrop on zazzle for $25, hanging it, and putting a high top near it with photo booth props I'm getting on amazon. I'm also purchasing a sign from etsy calling it a "selfie station" , encouraging people to use our hashtag. I had a friend send out this app before her wedding, inviting people to login into it during the wedding and post pictures there. A decent amount of people did it.

Alternatively, I might ask my brother if I can borrow his instax camera, and have that available on the high top as well. The instax film isn't cheap but between the film, backdrop, sign, and props, it's about $185 (and I was gonna be renting the high top anyhow). If you were to buy the instax camera itself, it would bump it up to $285 Just one idea to get around renting a full out photo booth.

I'm having one, but I don't think they're absolutely necessary. I think they add an element of fun for sure, people don't always want to dance or drink. The last wedding I was at had one and I found myself in it 3 or 4 times just to get more silly pictures! It was a blast, and I'm excited to see everyone's pictures in the free book they're providing for us as well.

The cool thing about the photo booth I booked is even if there's 4-5 people in the booth, every single one of them gets a copy of the pictures instead of the traditional two. We got a discount on it because we booked it with the same company that's doing our DJ. The DJ and photobooth cost $3,000 total, but we also decided on the deluxe package and it was a tiny bit extra for ceremony music as well Smiley smile

Try Groupon we saw a few great deals for four hours. We decided not to since it seemed counter productive to pay for a DJ to keep people on the dance floor then have a photo booth that kept them off it.

I love going to weddings that have them. I really wanted one but there isn't a good spot to put it so we aren't getting one.

I’m also going to do a selfie station! I’m actually going to have my guests sign scrapbook paper instead of a guest book (I’m making FH a scrapbook for a wedding gift) and buy a Polaroid camera, set up a nice backdrop and use the photos and signatures to complete the scrapbook!

We are going to do a selfie station and purchase a Snapchat filter. I would love a photo booth but it’s just not possible for us

We're not doing it. At the weddings I've been too people spend SO much time taking stupid photos and not dancing or enjoying the reception. Theres always a huge line and then the next day most people just throw them away

We are doing one because it is something fun for the guests to do instead of dancing.
