Photo Booth...to do or not to do...that is my question?

Mozabrat, on March 7, 2018 at 5:09 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 38

Did you have a photo booth? Was it worth it? Did guests enjoy it? In my area, they are about $900 for four hours. I am just looking to see any type of experience with one...good or bad. Looking to see if the extra expense would be a value. Thanks.

We are doing one, it’s $800 for four hours.
i love doing them at weddings, and I can’t wait to see the copies (we get one and the guest gets one) and how much fun guests had.
for favors I got the plastic 2x8 frames that match with them

My best friend had one at her wedding, and she said it was totally worth it. Of course here it was an extra $1,500. They were so much fun!

If its too expensive in your area....make your own! A simple backdrop with fun props. Buy a tripod for your ipad or something!

I’m doing my own ‘selfie station’ type thing. I’m getting a gold glitter looking backdrop from eBay for $16, and the actual frame is about $35 on Amazon (I was going to DIY with pvc, but for $20 difference, I’d rather it look nicer). I’ve found some props for about $10 too. I’m much happier spending $75 on something I can use again than $500 for a photobooth for 4 hours.

My venue has a selfie station. Gorgeous backdrop. We are adding a prop basket and a sign for our wedding hashtag.

Cool modern twist on the photobooth fraction off the cost.

    I thinks its $100

I think this trend has way overstated its welcome. Personally they’re a waste of money.

We're doing it through our DJ company. The original cost was 1000 for the photobooth and 1700 for the DJ, but I told the company that our budget for both was 1500 and they actually gave that price to me (I think partly because my wedding is on a Friday at a venue they like working with; also there was a slight discount because I met them at a bridal show). They were very willing to negotiate, so it doesn't hurt to check with other vendors to see if they have something like this (I think my wedding coordinator also could have done one for an additional fee)

I've been at events with photobooths and they're a lot of fun. We're doing it instead of guest favors, so you can always take whatever you budgeted for favors and use that towards a photobooth.

We're both tech people, so we ended up making one with a Raspberry pi and a touch screen then made our own backdrop and added props. Total cost around $100 and it has been used since! Plus it was neat because the guests could email them to themselves and the auto synced with Google photos. (However, the one problem we had was the tripod got knocked over. Nothing broke and we got it working again, but DH and his GM had spent all this time getting it perfectly set up and then. . .we've since learned to secure the tripod!)

Probably the only thing I would not do again. Only 42 pics were taken for the night, many repeat people, lots never went in. I would have sooner paid for a third shooter to roam and take candids. In fact, my photographers did take more casual group pics than the photo booth.

We did one and I thought it was worth it for sure. Our guests had fun and of course we had too. In our area, there are a lot of pricy ones too but after a long research I found a reasonably priced one.

Personally, I could take it or leave it, but FH wants one, so he's in charge of getting it. It's only about $450 here, so we're planning on doing that as our guest book.

Can you elaborate on what this is? I googled raspberry pi and it looks like a computer?

My fiance is a tech person so I'm wondering if he could do it. I'll bug him when I get home Smiley winking

Photobooths are one of my favorite aspects of a special event since I get a take away item. I’m definitely getting one, it was $595 starting and I got it with my DJ.

I do love them when I go to a wedding. What am I going to do if I am not dancing? Weddings get boring after a while and it’s like something to do that’s fun.

I think photo booths are great entertainment and appeal to guests of all ages. We had one at our wedding and it was a huge hit with everyone. Our guests were able to print as many pics as they wanted and we got a flash drive with all the pics at the end of the night.

We are doing a photo booth. It s $500 for 4 hours and includes 2 copies of each picture sheet, with one going into an album they provide (and guests can sign) so it doubles as our guest book. I am really looking forward to this bc I enjoy photobooths at events.
