Pew Decor...

Maritza, on June 30, 2014 at 1:20 PM Posted in Planning 0 22

What's your take on pew decor? We're getting married in a small chapel, total pews of 18. This has been one of my biggest challenges so far. Do you think this is one of those things we should skip and spend the money esle where? Can we decorate every other pew? Do you think anyone will notice or care? What's your personal opinion or suggestions? This pic is the actual chapel where we will be married.

Personally, I don't think it matters. We are getting married in a gorgeous church and I think decor will take away from it's natural beauty. If you don't like the look of your church you could add a little something - maybe just two flower arrangements on either side of the front? Or every other pew would be good, too.

I would do something for decoration, but I think it would be fine to do every other pew or even every three pews.

I think a little decoration is a nice touch, however I also think every other pew or so is plenty!

I was going to do pew decor but decided to skip it. You spend most of your time in the reception hall versus the chapel and most chapels are gorgeous as is. I'm sticking with a candle lined aisle and saving the $400 I was going to spend on the pew decor.

We aren't going to do any pew decor (but our church also doesnt have traditional pews, more like chairs so its not really plausible). The only church decor we are going to do are altar flowers and possibly the display for the unity candle

Every pew is far too many. Do a simple bow on every other row, or even drape some tulle between every 2-3 pews. Definitely don't waste money on flowers there unless you can take them to decorate some part of the reception.

Thanks everyone! I think I'm going to keep it down to every other pew.. this way I'll only need 9 total bows .

@Maritza I would even suggest going to every 3rd pew... because you'll have to do both sides! That way it will be 10 bows total for both sides.

Even if you do every other, you still need 18 bows! (Each row you do needs one on each side of the aisle).

Actually, it's only the aisle side. The pews are against the walls, so I actually will need a total of 10 bows for the aisle, 9 pews on each side, doing every other pew. Right?

It really doesn't matter. I honestly am not decorating the ceremony too much and spent most of my decor on the reception since that's where most of the guests are spending their time anyway. We are just planning on putting pew flowers on every other pew halfway up the aisle (about 8 flowers in total). They are very pretty cascading flowers so it's enough to still make things pop and didn't need anything else to decorate other than the main 2 flower arrangements on pillars on the altar. That's it! Nice and simple!

I dont think it will matter too much but if you want decorations on them, try to DIY them as much as possible and keep it simple. Like maybe just a few strands of ribbon/lace or something like that. But I think even if you skipped it it wouldn't be a big deal.

I had 11 fabric pew bows made for the small chapel I'm getting married in...we are going to put them on every other pew (5 on each side of the aisle) and one on the altar where we will do a modified sand ceremony. We will also have 2 flower arrangements on pedestals at the front of the chapel. At the reception (next door), we plan to use 1 of the pew bows for the sweetheart table, and the 2 flower arrangements from the chapel will be used as centerpieces on the guest tables.

Maritza you are right....if its 9 pews on each side and you are doing every other one - then approx 10 will do the both sides of the aisle......

I am getting married in a church that is roughly the same size and we decided to put flowers on every other pew - sufficient for the size and amount of people we will have. Smiley smile

Here are ours, I could have gone without, it didnʻt make a big difference to me. We only did the front 3 family rows (6 pews) it was more than enough IMO.

We are putting bows on the family pews only. Sort of our way to mark them.

I'm making ribbons in my wedding colors and placing them at every other pew.

Those are some great suggestions, I'm glad I saw this since I'm struggling with the same thing right now.
