Personal Attendants

Kyla, on February 27, 2018 at 5:24 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 38

Hello Everyone!

Just wondering what everyone's personal attendants are wearing, are you letting them wear whatever? or do they wear the same dresses as the bridesmaids?

What exactly is a personal attendant?

I've never heard of that until wedding wire. Can you explain a little more what this is?

God don't do this! I was one and it was the most insulting things I've ever done. We wore black dresses but I haven't talked to that good friend more than a few times since and only because I had to. It's not an honor and this title needs to die

I thought personal attendant was a just more gender neutral term for bridesmaid?

Good lord, that's horrific. If you need someone like that for your wedding day you better be prepared to pay them!

Exactly! When I was one it was sold as this big honor. Not even close. I wasn't good enough to be a bridesmaid (she had 11 but couldn't go to 12?) but apparently I was good enough to be free labor all day and set up their honeymoon suite (out of my own pocket) and wait on her hand and foot all day. I was "part of the party" but not enough to have my name in the program or participate in the grand march, pictures, or bridal party dance. But I did get to go on the party bus with everyone so woo? Never again!

Ha! Sounds like a free, and unknowing DOC.

I do wonder if the OP intention is better? And perhaps she's using the title for a better role.

Letting doesn't sit well with me when referring to other people period. We all know how to conduct our selves in public, otherwise we wouldn't be invited to things anymore.

Hopefully if means her attendants are going to be in pictures/processionals/etc, like BP members.

Yeah my officiant doubled as a PA. She was a package deal with my DJ.

I, obviously, wouldn't "honor" a friend by having them coordinate for me. My officiant was a joy. My DOC was a nightmare.

Hire a coordinator. I had a coordinator only for the ceremony and reception set up and made sure at those times everything went smoothly. The hours getting ready rested completely on me and my H. We were organized, and had things ready days in advance, so that part of the day went smoothly as well.

My personal attendant is my DOC, we're paying her well, and she can wear whatever she likes!

I'm not having a personal attendant. You shouldn't either. I'm hiring a day of coordinator as my "personal attendant" but really she's not even that. She's my wedding coordinator.

I would be completely embarrassed to ask someone to be my personal attendant. If you want someone waiting on you that day, hire them and pay them.

I’m hiring someone to do that. I would never ask someone to be my servant for the day. No one at my wedding is there to wait on me, they’re guests.

I’ve never heard of a personal attendant. I’m from Texas and it’s customary to have a house party which is kind of like a bridesmaid but they don’t stand up at the altar with you. (I’m not having one by the way but most of my friends did)

Yeah just clicked on this because I didn’t know what a personal attendant was. Who thinks of this stuff?
