Personal Attendant Question

Cherbear013, on February 9, 2010 at 10:54 PM Posted in Planning 0 14

I am thinking of asking my cousin to be my personal attendant. I wasn't planning on one but I think it would be helpful. What would be a cute way to ask her? I cna't ask her person either because we are in different states. Thanks!

I just wanted her to help me get ready, carry any make-up I might need, do my bustle, etc. She's a year older than me (27) and just got married so she could be helpful. I also feel bad now that she isn't in my wedding party.

I don't think there's honored about being called a personal attendant. I'm assuming you have BMS and a mother and possibly your FI's mom will help you out too with remembering things, dressing and emergency kits.

Like a lady in waiting... I am having both of my cousins do that since they wanted to help and I am not having bridesmaids. I cant think of any great ways to ask her maybe make her a personal card saying how important she is to you.

A more appropriate term is "lady in wedding". It sounds less like endentured servitude lol.

I am having 2 of my friends help me with things & this is a way to have them be a part of the day but I am also having them pass out programs and giving them the title as greeters becausse to me personal attendant reminds me of personal assistant and some ppl may take that the wrong way...just my opinion.

Lol sorry i type slow ...there was only one post when i started typing... I think that its important to get her a gift like the bridesmaid... She is doing just as important of a job so you need to thank her too.

@Kerin I think greeters is definitly a step up form personal assistant but my Cousins (11 and 14) thought the ideas of being "Ladies in waiting" was SO cool (lol I hope i was not that silly at that age but i think i was)

I don't think there's anything derogatory about it. I mean think about it, a bride on the most important day of her life wants you right there with her. My friend Alison has been with me every step of the way during my planning. I've dragged her all across NE Ohio and she hasn't complained one bit. I couldn't imagine anyone but her being with me on my wedding day helping me get dressed and just BEING there. My mom would get on my nerves. My stepmom could be okay but I just really want my friend with me.

Ok. I get it now Smiley smile I agree with the others. Lady in waiting sound so much better. Otherwise, it kind of comes off as a servant. Definitely get a gift just as the rest of the bridal party. As far as a clever way of asking, that's a toughie. Now this might sound tacky, but....trace your hand on a nice piece of paper and cut it out, decorate it nice. Make blank pages same size of your hand to make a book. Include something like "would you be my right hand lady" or something of the sort. Write on the pages how much she means to you and that you would be honored if she could help you out on your special day. Maybe even put some pictures of the two of you in it. .......or maybe I spent waaaay too much time planning 3 year old art projects!
