The reason I ask, is that I have two younger cousins, about 15 and 16, who arent my bridesmaids, but I've always been really close to, and they'll also be doing ceremony readings. My aunt (thier mom) suggested that perhaps I could make them like attendants for the day so they can participate in helping, but in a way that might mean more to these girls than just a guest book attendant or something.

What do you think of this? I'm worried it'll appear as more of a task, and wouldnt be fun for them.

Though, they could also help set up the venue the morning of (we get it at 8am, but the wedding wont start till 3 or 4 anyway, so I'd like to help with it)

YES! I am having one of my cousins and a friend help me for the day. Something else my cousin is doing is helping with the actual ceremony and getting people down the aisle at the right time. I think it is a great idea to have someone help you. They can keep a list for the day, bring you things, keep things on time, etc. I think it is a necessity.

Elegant Event's and Dawn's Treasures...the only problem I forsee with hiring a professional, is that my FH's cousin does a lot of wedding planning, and if I did, it would have to be her. Needless to say, we are not at all alike, and I've seen some of the weddings she's helped with and have not been impressed in the slightest. I think what my aunt was trying to get it, is that my cousins see dressing up and getting ready to be the fun part, and want to do something helpful, but not something that their teenage selves would find lame or boring. It'd be less of a "job" and more of just giving them a sense that they're included.

And JJ, i would certainly call it "a lady in waiting"...when I wrote the post, I had a brainlapse moment and couldnt remember what it was called Smiley laugh

I'm having my nieces (17 & 13) and my cousins (16; 14 & 13) as jr. bridesmaids in lue of bridesmaids my age b/c all my gf have the potential of getting jealous and catty that it's not them. I thinks girls this age make better attendents b/c they are more excited for you.

Just to let you know I haven't read all of the posts so if I sound repetitive, sorry! Anyway, yes I am having a personal assistant. She's one of my good friends that I love to death. She is responsible and doesn't stress easy. I have 3 BM and want to keep it at that, but this friend means a lot to me so was hoping to have a special role for her. I was worried that she'd feel like I was just going to boss her around all day, but she is so excited! This way she gets to be there while I get ready and everything while making an important impact on my day. She also knew that I honestly would not be offended if she turned me down, so I know she really wants to do it and I'm so glad Smiley smile
