People RSVP yes come and now cancel 4 days before the wedding!

Shit happens. Move on.

I had 8 people back out and 2 not show up. It really bothered me more than it should have. It's money wasted, but my advice to you is to just let it go. It is rude, and it sucks, but it's not worth getting too upset.

I'd rather they cancel BEFORE than just not show up at all.

We had 4 people cancel in the couple of days before the wedding. Then we had another 7 no-shows. (and we had a small guest list to begin with...these are close family members I'm talking about). It pisses me off when I think about how much money was wasted, but in a way it's worth the cost to have a clearer sense of who really cares about you. Try to focus on who IS there, rather than who isn't.

I know this sucks. You've already given your final count to your venue. I would be understanding if the cancellation was due to a family emergency or illness, but something like, "we can't get a babysitter" would bother me.

We had exactly four no-shows at our wedding. None of them called. I was initially hurt, but I got over it because we had such a blast at the reception.

Call the venue to see if you still have to pay, and if so, try and get them to put more apps out instead of meals for 4
