Is it rude for somebody to only show up to the reception? I dont want to just pay for food, when these people werent even here to share the ceremony with us. Especially because food is expensive and we're having an open bar. I would really feel like they're only showing up for the food and booze and dancing. I know some people will only be able to show up to the reception due to other issues, but our wedding is on a Saturday, so work isnt a huge issue. I'm concerned about this, because my FH's aunt just had a wedding, and a total of maybe 20 people showed up to the ceremony, and there were about 150 people at the reception. Am I being difficult or should I do a no entry after ceremony since the ceremony and reception are at the same place?

This feels really judgmental. Religious ceremonies can take place outside of a church so if you're avoiding the church ceremony to avoid religion, this is a pretty faulty plan. I got married in August and had a church wedding in the United Methodist Church that H and I belong to. My best friend got married this past weekend outside at her venue by a United Methodist pastor and our wedding essentially had the same elements. The biggest different was that their wedding was closer to 20 minutes and ours was closer to 30, and they had 2 readings and ours only had 1. You wouldn't have known that theirs was religious based on the invitation, so I guess I just don't understand your reasoning.

Not judging. I don't feel comfortable attending religious ceremonies. Hope that clears things up.

I was thinking the same thing. 120 people didn't show up???? There is something wrong there. A few may not show, but 120???? Somethings not right there. But I don't think you'll have that problem
