People not receiving invitations

Crystal, on May 2, 2014 at 9:25 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 19

I've had a couple people tell me they never received our invitations. I've verified the addresses. One said she never got my invitation or save the date, but got the shower invitation. I don't have any extra invitations and to get 25 more printed is going to cost $100 (which is about the same as having the 75 original printed) and a couple of weeks. Should I just print a few myself at home, just not as fancy, or email/text them the info? Did anyone else have this issue?

Depending who they are - I might just send them the info via e-mail. You could make a cute online invitation for free via ppt or something similar?

Weird that they didn't receive...can you check with the post office?

I would just order a handful of extras off of Vista Print or print my own at home. That sucks that some got lost in the mail. :/

You should probably just email them the info.

Damn, I'd get so annoyed at the post office.

When I asked my friend for her address I told her it was for our std/Christmas card. She told me at my shower she didn't get my std or invitation for the wedding, but did for the shower. I also worry there are more that haven't received them since our RSVP deadline is in less than 2 weeks and we've barely received any back. I know that's a common complaint around here.

I do have a Facebook group for my wedding so people could fly into Miami and carpool to Key West and so I could give info about stuff to do. I'm using it as kind of a wedding website. Our wedding is pretty formal and I need background check forms physically filled out for our wedding venue (it's on a military base), so I'm not sure about doing Facebook invites.

I'm worried for this. I have had numerous people tell me they didn't receive my save the date postcard. I have a bunch of extra so I sent out more. But it makes me wonder how many others got lost and idk about it. Them how many of my invites will get lost. Its stressful!

Depending who they are just send the info, other wise you may want to get more invitations. I order for vistaprint so i always have extras and the price is low.

I had two people that didn't receive their invitation either (thanks USPS) and I, fortunately, had enough to send them another one. However, in another instance, all I did was take a pic of the invitation and text it to the person. They weren't offended, so hopefully you can do that too.

Did you check with the post office before mailing them that you had the correct postage stamps? If most of them did not get to their destination, then maybe they needed extra postage. I think its okay to just contact them by phone or email for just a few of your guests.

I did check with the post office to make sure the postage was correct ahead of time. I also hand delivered them to a person at the post office so the wouldn't get lost in a big blue box.

Sometimes it takes a little longer for some of the invitations to reach their destinations. When did you mail them? Has enough time passed for them to be returned to you for additional postage/incorrect address, etc.?

This website has some customizable free invitation templates if you wanted to go that route. I know of at least one that didn't get delivered-to my aunt in FL and one that was returned to me because I forgot to put the zip code. My aunt said she usually has issues with her mail though.

Just give them the information. It's frustrating that you paid for these invitations, and you paid to send them, but don't worry about wasting more money just so they can all have paper invitations. The important thing is that they know they're invited, that they know when and where the wedding is, and that they let you know if they're coming.

Ugh! Maybe emails to people you are worried about hearing back from to check in and a printed version from your home computer for the missing invites?
