Pens for left-handed ladies? Need pens that won't smear!

Anonymous, on April 26, 2012 at 5:04 PM Posted in Planning 0 11

Hi ladies,

I'm going to start addressing envelopes next week, and will have thank you's to write soon too. Problem is, both FH and I are left-handed and the ink just smears :/ Anyone know of a good pen that doesn't smear, that is fancy enough for invite addresses?

Thanks!

Sharpie Pen - FINE tip ... I use it and LOVE IT! I used it for everything and use it everyday at work

If you want an actual pen and not a marker type pen, try R.S.V.P. Ballpoint Stick Pen

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it ain't gonna happen lol. (I'm a lefty too) Your best bet will be to keep a piece of paper between your hand and the fresh ink (it's not a guaranteed no-smudge but it will help A LOT) and take breaks in between each few words to give them time to dry...or have a righty who has nice penmanship help you out lol Smiley winking Good luck!

Aretina...I'm a lefty and the two pens above that I mentioned have yet to smear on me when I write with them. I swear by these pens. The Sharpie Pen Fine Tip is an instant dry.

I assume you'll be taking your time with your invites.

There was a gal on here a bit a go...can't remember who...who printed out each address on the envelope similar in color, but could still see the line and then traced over top...this was someone who was looking to get a calligraphy look without paying a calligraphy price. I mention this b/c I think if you're tracing letters...you will also take your time which will help with the drying process.

    Sharpies are great!

If you don't want to write, you can print the addresses on labels. It's super easy printing Avery address labels by the sheet on your home printer.

@ Cydney - we've got boxes of the RSVPs in my office and those pens clearly don't like ME lol...I've never heard of the Sharpie Pen Fine Tip though, those sound like something I need to look into!

I think that was FutureMrsOhler (that Cydney was mentioning with the printing) - it looked really good!

Lefty here! :-) no markers or marker types plz! or jel filled pins!

fine points really make a difference to! they wright thinner so there is ink to smear plus a fast drying ink helps. but your best bet is to try to find a rsvp pen or go to a pen specialty shop they can help you. :-)

    hope this helps! best wishes!

Ah yes...how could I not remember FutureMrsOhler?!?!! I suck!

The sharpie pens are seriously my best friend Aretina...I use them every day and have yet to smear a thing. I've even got everyone in the office using them now...even the right handers...it just looks nicer...IMO.

Faber-Castell PITT Artist's Pen fineliners. The ink is super quick drying, and doesn't bleed like Sharpies, or smudge. The ink is also darker than Sharpies. They are kinda pricy though. Just make sure they are the fineliners and not felt or brush tips.
