Penises at bachelorette?

May Bride, on April 3, 2016 at 5:43 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 45

I'm not at all part of planning my bachelorette but my MOH asked me whether I'd be comfortable with having some "classy penis" at it. As in, she won't be over-the-top but would have some penis-themed games.

Deep down I think they would be a lot of silly fun but I'm also scared that people will judge me or my MOH. My cousins and FH's siblings and cousins will be there. I've only been to two bachelorettes before (FSIL and a cousin--both of which didn't have any penises) so I'm not really sure what the non-tv norm is.

Would you judge someone for having some penises at their bachelorette? Is there such thing as classy penises? Am I going to regret making this thread?

As far as I can guess (based on things my MOH has said), I think the plan is to have a stand-up comedian and then follow it up with cocktails and games.

Thanks for all help and well-deserved mocking!

I threw a party for a friend with no penises. It's totally doable

I think you're fine either way. My cousin had penis glitter/confetti at hers and penis straws.

I asked for no penis items at mine. As a teacher, I can't risk being in a photo with anything that could get me fired. NJ school districts are really bad with that. Each year we see photos of what got teachers fired. It's absurd.

So no penis items for me. But I didn't judge my cousin for having them.

I wouldn't judge others, it just wasn't my thing.

If it was a small group of friends, I think it would be fun but I don't think I'm comfortable with it with our families there. When she asked me, I didn't want to say anything bad about her ideas because I'm just so thankful that she's throwing me a bachelorette at all. I've just messaged her asking to talk more about it and I'll try to see if she's bought anything already. I can also think of lots of fun games we can play that don't involve penises. I think she was thrown off because apparently my FSIL told her her original idea was not "big" enough.

I wouldn't judge. My friends had penis straws and a stripper. The straws were fine. The stripper was disgusting.

Hmm what is a classy penis? A penis wearing a top hat? Lol. I would not judge someone for having penises at their bachelorette but I do think it's a little silly.

If you are hesitant at ALL, which it seems like you are, then either ask for no penises or save it for when you are just hanging out with your girls at home, after the dinner or drinks and such out in public.

As a 30-year-old bride who is also a teacher at a college, I don't want any penises either--it's not my style, nor do I want to risk being seen by colleagues or students!

I would ask for no penises. I agree that it would be funny and personally, I wouldn't mind it (but it definitely isn't my style either). But people like my MIL would be so uncomfortable and judgmental. It's not worth it for some people

There's no such thing as a "classy penis" when it's out in the open for all to see (real or fake). Personally, I think it's totally childish. I don't understand why grown women need to have a party filled with plastic penis straws and necklaces. But hey maybe that's just me.

I definitely wouldn't judge you and would get some laughs out of it! That being said, you know the group best. If you feel unsure, maybe it would be best to avoid it.

I threw a bachelorette with no 'classy' penis or any penis for that matter, so if you're worried then know it's doable. However, if I went the a bachelorette party and did see penis I wouldn't be offended and I'd probably laugh it off. If you're worried about being judged the request a penis free party.

I don't think people would judge you because that sorta thing can come along with it. It's not really my thing, I would never judge, but I will say the straws are funny lol

I don't think ppl would judge you. I had rainbow candy penises at my Bach lol. It was subtle in a clear container. And it bothered none of us. We just had fun with it.

So that's my suggestion. Do what you want and have fun with it.

I'm kind of interested in seeing this version of "classy penis," though. lol I don't mind them either way. I can take them or leave them as far as the party goes.
