Peeing in a Ballgown Dress

So at my last fitting the salon mentioned going to the bathroom while wearing my ballgown wedding dress. They actually suggested picking up the dress in the front and straddling the toilet backwards, rather than worry about moving the back of the dress. This seemed like an awkward but viable solution.

On my way home I was thinking about this and discovered the problem. What do you do about your underwear? I normally only push them down just below my knees but this backward positioning means they'd have to go down to my ankles and either touch the pedestal or touch the floor. I'm not okay with either option.

I'm thinking I'll follow their advice for getting the skirt out of the way, by collecting up the lining, then twist the whole skirt around gently, to expose my backside and pee as usual.

I know bridesmaids are suppose to help but I'm not sure if I could pee in front of them. I might just have my mom help, I know I can with her, LOL.

How did you ladies with full skirts manage?

BUY A BRIDAL BUDDY!!! THey had it on shark tank. It wraps around your dress and you tie it up so you can pee normally.

As far as the people helping you thing: Whenever I saw bridesmaids/friends holding a bride's dress in a movie I used to think it was so awkward and that I would never be able to be the bride or the BM. Fast forward to my cousin's wedding and I ended up helping his new wife hold up her dress while she peed. I was a little drunk at this point, which I'm sure helped, but there was also so much dress that it wasn't nearly as uncomfortable as I thought it would be.

If your dress is a zipper, take it off. I did that before. This dress is a corset, so my MOH is going to have to help me.

I had a ballgown as well with the petticoat. Thankfully, I only had to pee once during the reception. I don't know if I was just determined, but I found pulling the front up to where you could collect the skirt in your arms still had reasonable access to pull underwear down, and didn't need any help from my bridesmaids. I didn't have to let my underwear drop to the floor, could easy sit mid calf with my granny panties. Smiley smile Good luck!

I found this on Pinterest a while back. I'm sure I will be doing the same thing on my wedding or have my mom or sister in Law help me with my dress.

I had an A line (which wasn't a ball gown but seemed huge when I was wearing. I kicked off my panties and sat backwards. It was a piece of cake. My mom was close by in case I needed her. Getting married in May there was no way I was adding another layer of something under my dress so no bridal buddy. The backwards straddle really works well.

I'm just here to say that I thought the title of this was "peeing ON a ballgown dress" and I was very concerned. I'm glad that's not the case! Lol

This was my dress, and I straddled the toilet backwards. I just took my underwear off every time I had to go. And by every time, I mean the maybe 3 times in the 12 hours I was wearing my dress.

I had someone help me and hold the back of my dress up. I basically just sat sideways on the seat so the helper was behind me. My undies didn't get in the way since I wasn't straddling the toilet. I also used the handicap stall so there was extra room.

I really hope no one has to do more than pee when relying on the help of others. Yikes.

I'm going to try to not pee lol. My dress is a very fitted mermaid and I'm wearing a shaper. No idea how I'm gonna get out of that one.
