Peeing in a Ballgown Dress

PH03N1X, on September 17, 2017 at 11:01 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 41

So at my last fitting the salon mentioned going to the bathroom while wearing my ballgown wedding dress. They actually suggested picking up the dress in the front and straddling the toilet backwards, rather than worry about moving the back of the dress. This seemed like an awkward but viable solution.

On my way home I was thinking about this and discovered the problem. What do you do about your underwear? I normally only push them down just below my knees but this backward positioning means they'd have to go down to my ankles and either touch the pedestal or touch the floor. I'm not okay with either option.

I'm thinking I'll follow their advice for getting the skirt out of the way, by collecting up the lining, then twist the whole skirt around gently, to expose my backside and pee as usual.

I know bridesmaids are suppose to help but I'm not sure if I could pee in front of them. I might just have my mom help, I know I can with her, LOL.

How did you ladies with full skirts manage?

Look into a bridal buddy. It's like a big ol bag you wear under your dress that you then tuck your dress into when you have to pee.

I would probably also take my dress off entirely. No risk that way!

Just not pee. I was in my dress for 10 hours and did just fine. I was so distracted by everything around me that I forgot about having to do that.

At my friends wedding, her dress just had a zipper so she just took it off completely to pee.

You can take your underwear off one leg and hold it up with your dress on the other leg. I wouldn't want to take my whole dress off that seams like way too much work!

I'm with Gymrat, I'm thinking commando is the way to go. And it's gonna be a team effort to pee for sure. I will honestly probably have FH help me if it's an issue.

I'm following.. I was wondering the same thing. I have a mermaid dress though with a slip to add extra volume. I can't take it off completely because it has a corset back. Not going all day seems impossible for me too.

I ended up not having to pee too much thankfully. I went right before the ceremony started and then once during the reception. It wasn't pretty but I just took help with me to hold the dress up for me.

Just dont wear any panties and you should be fine. I guess another option would be that you could wear panties and then just wear men's boxers over them so that they dont touch the floor. But Im personally team no panties

I also have a ballgown and am planning on sitting backwards.. my dress doesn't have a train so at least that will help! I drink a lot of water so I'm sure I'll go more than once!

Check out this article on Buzzfeed, it's written with a hilarious voice but give actual good advice: https://www.buzzfeed.com/kristinchirico/i-tried-different-methods-of-peeing-in-a-wedding-dress-so-yo?utm_term=.mt50akYNY#.tjmxBgObO

I didn't have to take my dress off, I wore a petticoat under my ball gown i was able to pull it up and stuff my dress in it and didn't have any issues pulling underwear down. however my Mom was close by just in case I needed her..lol

I normally pee like every 20 minutes, and I didn't even feel like I had to go until after we got home after the wedding (which was good, because I discovered I could not take down my panties after the bustier was on lol)

ETA: I had a big ball gown and I'm sure if I had wanted/needed/been able to get my underwear off to pee my bridesmaids would have helped

@CBD to Be that article was great. I had to tell FH why I was over here laughing.

I always thought I'd take my dress off and use the bridal suite, but my dress has like 25-30 small pearl buttons on the back. I think I'll have to look into something else.

ETA: I have an A-line dress, not a ballgown.

Your bridesmaids aren't "supposed to help." That's disgusting. Have your husband help if you need to.

I went a lot before I got into my dress. I didn't go again until I was in the hotel room afterwards.

I'm trying the Bridal Buddy: https://bridalbuddy.net/

If this is too difficult, I may have to step out of the dress.

I bought underwear that had snaps underneath.. I never feel comfortable not wearing anything. They were easy to open and close. I did what your salon suggested and straddled the toilet backwards with my friend holding my dress in back. Worked out just fine

I took my underwear off for the reception. Too much hassle to pull them up and down while straddling the toilet! Managed to pee all night without assistance

I just had underwear/spanks type things with snaps underneath so I just unsnapped and peed backwards. I only had to pee once, so that was nice.
