Hey ladies! I am getting married in just 5 days, and my nana asked me to wear her pearl necklace for my ceremony. The necklace belonged to her grandmother and has been worn by my great grandmother, my nana, and my own mother on their wedding days. I love the idea of the pearls being worn by so many women in my family but I started having second thoughts when a friend told me they were, “too old fashoned for a 26-year-old.” Am I thinking too much into their comment?! Are pearls not popular for wedding jewelry anymore? This is the necklace (it’s from the early 1900’s)

Agree with PPs - pearls are classic and timeless. They won't go out of style! They are lovely! I wouldn't think too much on your friends comments. You can't make EVERYONE happy anyway! And I'm glad to read that you have decided to wear them proudly

Omg ignore your “friend”! Pearls are timeless. And you’ll get to be the 4th generation to wear these. That’s amazing! If you want to wear them, that’s all that matters.

I love pearls! I wore my grandmother’s pearl necklace to my high school graduation and I thought nothing of it, so if they’re not “too old” for an 18 year old they’re definitely not too old for a 26 year old. Wear them with pride!

I am 29 and will be wearing a pearl necklace that has been in my family since I dont know when. I think it was at least my great great grandmothers. I also think of it as this necklace is worth much more than anything that I would buy myself.
