Paying vendors via Venmo?

lilam18, on August 27, 2017 at 2:01 PM Posted in Planning 0 18

Has anyone done this? Is there any reason not to?

I'm in the process of booking my H/MUA and it's one of the accepted payment methods. Seems a little strange to me, but I'm all out of checks and the credit card processing fee is high. Thoughts?

My daughters H/MUA also wanted Venmo payment. I think it's getting more popular and the vendor is not charged a fee.

I wouldn't pay her via venmo in advance since there is no protection, but day of I would totally be comfortable with it.

I've never had anyone even ask me about this.

Just the deposit amount, not the full amount.

Alexa is right; there is no protection like there would be with a credit card. Can you ask your bankto print you like 10 checks? Mine will to that....

My hair & makeup vendor offers Venmo as a payment option but this has been the only vendor. It does track your transactions. I paid my deposit this way.

@Celia I didn't know that was an option! I will ask. Otherwise I was planning to do a cashier's check. The drawback is that I'm feeling lazy and can't do either of those from the couch, but if this isn't standard practice I'm better off safe than sorry.

I paid my string quartet via Venmo, but I wish I hadn't. I got charged a fee because it was such a high amount.

I use Venmo for everything. Just make sure you screenshot your transaction history

Thanks for everyone's input! I'm leaning toward a more conventional form of payment to be on the safe side.

    Edit: words!

Most of my vendors have charged me via Square rather than Venmo

My hair & makeup people (separate services / they don't work together) both want either cash or Chase QuickPay so I QuickPaid them for the trials and will be doing the same for day-of as well.

Since it's through my bank, there's records of these transactions.

I got a trainer once upon a time who didn't fulfill his end of the contract, and I paid Venmo. Venmo's T&Cs prevent businesses from using its services, therefore your transactions are not protected. Do not use venmo for anything business related or you are not protected
