Paying for vendor's one-time business license?

Katie, on June 23, 2017 at 1:18 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 2

So, after hiring all of our vendors, I somehow just saw that our venue requires all vendors to have a current business license in that town (the town over from me). We're reaching out to our vendors to see if they have one or whether they need to get connected to the license manager. Our videographer just responded that it's a $60 fee for a one-time license. He works/lives about an hour away, so he probably doesn't need a long-term license for this area. If he is indeed asking for us to cover it (and if it isn't stated in the contract that we need to, which I would need to check), is it fair for us to cover that for him and any other vendor that requests it? Or maybe split it? I can kind of see all sides of this situation but would like to know (outside of any stipulations in the contract) what is fair/legal/expected. Thanks!

Check with the town clerk to see if there are any reciprocity agreements. May help save the $$.

If its one time for your wedding I'd think it would be your responsibility. If its a long term one, that's the vendors responsibility.
