Paying for cake cutting??

Did you guys pay the caterers to cut and serve your cake or did you do it yourself/have a family member do it for free?? I'm debating which to do because if we did it ourself that's a lot of cake to cut and serve to worry about making sure everyone has a piece. If we paid the catering to do it we...

Did you guys pay the caterers to cut and serve your cake or did you do it yourself/have a family member do it for free?? I'm debating which to do because if we did it ourself that's a lot of cake to cut and serve to worry about making sure everyone has a piece. If we paid the catering to do it we wouldn't have to worry about all of that, stress off our backs. They want $50 to cut and pass out the cake. What do you guys think? Did you guys pay for it? And was it worth it if you did? Thanks in advance.

    I don't recommend having anyone cut it for free. It's important to make sure it's cut correctly so everyone gets a piece. Depending on the cake size and number of guests $50 is super worth it. I've seem between $2- $4 per person.

    Don't make your family work on your wedding day. Cough up the 50 bucks, you'll be glad you did in the end.

    It's $5 per slice at my venue so $50 sounds great.

    Thats a really good price.

    This is the reason why we did cupcakes.

    Cut cake $2.50 X 200 people = $500

    And I could never ask a family member to stand there for an hour cutting cake.

    My caterer is charging $75 and I gladly paid it because I do want my family to have to do more work than necessary on the day of.
