It just seems odd to me that we are paying ALL of the venue rental fee right now....but I've never a signed a venue contract so maybe it's not that weird? Any insight would be appreciated!

We were required to pay the entirety of the room fee, but nothing else until closer to the day.

My venue is all inclusive and their contract asks for $500-1000 down at signing and then the balance to be paid 3 weeks prior to event date. Since I know the family that owns the venue I only gave $500 down and will pay my balance in a week or two.
