Pasta Buffet?!

Katie, on April 29, 2012 at 1:42 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

We are doing our own food for the reception and I'm thinking of inexpensive (but yummy!) ways to feed 75 - 100 people. I have heard of some people do pasta buffets and I'm kind of leaning in that direction.

Have any of you had experience with pasta buffets at weddings? And any suggestions on what other pasta dishes I could include (budget friendly)? Any other things I should consider?

So far, Im thinking:

Penne Alfredo with chicken, broccoli

Penne Vodka with sausage

Eggplant Parmigiana over spaghetti (vegetarian)

Im doing olive oil, butter and crusty rolls on the table, definetly an easy option for a DIY bride bc they can be set up pre dinner. Don't forget after dinner mints so everyone can remove their garlic breath Smiley smile.

I planned my mother's reception, and it was at a hotel, but we were doing budget all the way! She had a pasta buffet with salad, fruit, and rolls, and it was awesome! What you have come up with sounds great. GO FOR IT!!!

Ziti, is easy peasy.... definately Rolls. DO you want meats? Do sausage and peppers or make sure you have meatballs/sausage/braciole.... HOLY MOLY, but thats time consuming to make.... you making this all yourself? Make sure you have GOOD cheese, no kraft garbage... italian people may throw it at you, lol.

Um...I think its a great menu..... enjoy.

We're an Italian family and eat pasta at a lot of our family holidays. I love to eat green beans with my meals. It's something green and yummy that compliments the pasta well.

    Thanks everyone!

@Sami - Thanks for the mint tip, I'll definitely include those! Nobody likes garlic breath Smiley tongue

@Sabrina - Yep, between myself and my family, we're doing all the cooking. I don't think I'll have meats seperately, rather meats in the pasta. And definitely ziti, thanks!

@Future Mrs. X - Yes, we definitely need veggies! Personally I love green beans with turkey bacon and almonds, we'll probably do something like that Smiley smile

Don't forget a non pasta or carb light main dish. Some people don't want to eat that heavy. Plus red sauce stains. I love this idea tho. We debated this too and decided against it.

    Hey Katie

Am Lebanese, and love food & cooking, if you like or even familiar with Lebanese food I can give you a recipe that is easy and festive at the same time.

Regarding the pasta the easiest is the Asian style and that's yummy too again if you like I'll be more than happy to provide you with the recipe
