FH can't find his passport and mine expires in October 2017. We are leaving for our honeymoon in Europe on 30 June 2017. FH tells me he cannot gather all the necessary documents to submit for a replacement passport until the last week of March due to work and other commitments. If we submit our paperwork by the first week in April, do we have enough time to get our passports back if we use the expedited processing?

I'm a nervous nelly and FH is telling me we have plenty of time so I should stop worrying.

Anyone in the same boat with the time crunch?

The only document he needs to get to replace his passport are two forms, which he can obtain online right now, and his birth certificate, which he should have. Why is he saying he can't get these things until the end of March?

(Source: I applied for a replacement passport last week. Replace, not renew.)

ETA forms DS-64 and DS-11. Both are free and available online. He can take care of this tonight.

We did ours last week and they are already processing them. They are coming back in about 4 weeks.

Remember to renew yours tol because some countries will deny access if you have less then 6 months till yours expires

If he doesn't have his passport, then he would apply for it like a first time application, so you would need a birth certificate and a valid photo ID.

It only takes a max of 6 weeks. I'm leaving mid-May and I'm only going for my renewal this week (9 weeks prior to trip, plenty of time). You have more time than I do if you're not leaving until the end of June, so don't stress. You'll be fine.

Normal turn around time for a passport is 6 - 8 weeks.

I’ve worked with this UK passport renewal service provider when I renewed mine, and I discovered a few things from them. One of these is about applying for an urgent passport, which is great for those who want to expedite such process. The first option you have is the Paper Premium service wherein you can get your new passport in just about 4 hours. You can also use such service when renewing an adult passport or change the name indicated in it. In case, you’ll be renewing a child and an adult passport, you can use the 1week Fast Track service. This even allows you to get your new passport a week after your appointment and delivered to your home! If you want to know other options you can consider, I’ll leave this link here for you to check out: https://www.gov.uk/get-a-passport-urgently.
