Party Bus vs Extra Hour at Reception

m, on June 29, 2016 at 11:05 PM Posted in Planning 0 16

I am taking a sort of vote. Our wedding is being paid for by a combination of my FH and I, his parents, and my parents. Early on, I had wanted to rent a party bus or limo bc I thought it would make getting around for pictures easier, esp since we have ppl from out of town in our wedding party, and we could relax and have a few drinks on it. But my FH and I eventually agreed that we didn't want to sacrifice some of our honeymoon budget just to have a party bus. Now, my mom has offered to get us a party bus. But we are also throwing around the idea of having an extra hour at the reception (making it 5 hrs instead of 4). By the time our wedding party gets there, and the venue starts cleaning up in the last half hour, I think the night might feel rushed with only 4 hours. FH is still pretty against the party bus, although he can't use our budget as the reason now. He just thinks a bus isn't worth it. Both options cost about the same, and I think both would make our wedding more enjoyable.

I added 1 hour to my reception from 4 to 5 hours because I heard it flies by and I want to enjoy it and not feel rushed. Also my venue has a solid end time of 11pm ( noise ordinance) and I always thought of having a wedding with friends, family, dancing and just straight up partying into the night but 11pm it is. I thought the extra money it cost was worth it.

Honestly I think it depends on what is more appealing to you. Do you want more time with family and friends at your reception? Or do you want to relax between the ceremony and pictures and the reception?

I personally would probably go with the extra hour, just because I wouldn't want to be rushed (my reception is 6 hours with dinner and everything) and I don't care as much about having a drink before arriving - I don't really drink.

I would definitely go with an extra hour! You'll probably thank yourself when the night flies by.

Going with an extra hour seems like a better choice. However, if you're having to drive to a different ceremony and reception venue the party bus would be fun to be in and to arrive at your next spot.

I would do the extra hour unless you are having an after party at another bar or another venue or something

I'd prefer the extra hour. The party bus sounds cool, but more people will enjoy the extra hour and I wouldn't think you'd want to feel rushed. My wedding doesn't have time cap, I have the place the whole day. I can't imagine trying to squeeze things into 4 hours.

Extra hour. How long would you be planning on spending in the party bus?

I would extend the reception to spend more time with your guests.

Did your mom give you a choice between the party bus and the extra hour? If so, great, if not, I personally don't feel it is right to ask her to pay for something she didn't offer to pay for.

I am extending my reception so it is 6pm-12am with cocktail hour and venetian hour. We are also contemplating a party bus but I feel like we are only going to be on it literally 20 minutes but have to have a 3 hour minimum. The costs of the bus is crazy as well!!!

I think it depends when your reception starts. Most evening weddings I have been to guests start to leave before the end time, especially if they are traveling. Personally I would do the bus. A friend of mine did that and it was so much fun

I would actually vote party bus. I have been a member of a wedding party several times and riding around in the party bus was one of the best parts to me. I think it's kind of a fun reward for your BM and GM.
