Parents walking in...

Bridetobe0816, on July 31, 2014 at 7:04 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11

How many of you are doing parent intro's before the bridal party? I'm having such a hard time picking a song that fits…suggestions?

We just went the traditional route (we had a string duo) and played "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring". bridal party was "Largo" by Handel and my processional" was "Canon in D".

Mine's kinda complicated because of FH's parents being divorced and he has a stepdad (but, again, divorced). Might just nix the parents intro altogether or have groomsmen escort mothers. But to answer your question, if I do a parents' intro, I probably will use the same song that I'm using for wedding party. I'm considering something by Vitamin String Quartet...it's instrumental music of modern songs.

I think we will have FH walk in with his parents followed by my mom and stepdad with my dad, obviously, walking me down the aisle

I am using viva la vida ( instrumental) by coldplay for our parents. It was tough finding a song!

If you're referring to walking into the ceremony, our parents are coming in to the same some as the bridesmaids.

If you're talking about at the reception, our parents are coming into "Everlasting Love" Gloria Estefan

For the ceremony we are doing this:

Grandmother escorted by one of my older brothers

Mother of the Groom escorted by her husband

Stepmother of the Groom escorted by DH's dad

Mother of the Bride escorted by my other brother

    Bridesmaids....MOH

    ME!

Pretty much same for the ceremony as well. My grandmother will be escorted into the ceremony by both of my brothers.

Our entrances were similar to JuneBride's. The officiant and groomsmen took their places at the altar and signaled the quartet. "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" played for the grandparents, Nick's dad, and Nick with his mom; and Canon in D played when my bridesmaids, FG, RB, and my parents and I walked down.

If you're talking about the intros before the reception, our parents were introduced. I can't remember what the DJ played...

If you're talking about the ceremony...I had my mom escorted in by my brother and DH's parents follow (or visa versa, I can't remember). Their song was 'Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" by Bach played by our harpist. My mom and I both agreed on this song. Here is the clip from her website in case you want to hear it:

For seating of the guests we're playing "Angel Eyes - Jim Brickman" Just for as everyone is finding places.

Me, dad, mom, and brother are all riding in on a carriage. Brother is our officiant so he will walk mom down the aisle and then take his spot under the arch. The chorus of My wish- Rascal Flats will be playing for them walking. As a tie that mom wishes I'm happy and also that she wishes my brother finds someone LOL.

We haven't figured out what song FH will be walking his mother down the aisle to though. (He will walk her down, and then walk to under the arch)

I'm having the mothers walk down the aisle probably escorted by my brother and FH brother. My dad will be in the back with me and FH father died when he was little. I'm using Canon in D for the BM and I think I'm just going to use that for the mother's as well.
