Parent First Dances?

Mary, on February 13, 2020 at 11:15 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 4

So here's the thing, my FH's parents have both passed away in tragic ways within five years of each other. I know that a lot of weddings have the first dances with parents, but we are thinking of ditching that altogether even though he his maternal grandmother is still alive so that my FH isn't too sad and also because I'm not very close with my dad and I feel like that would be awkward. Thoughts?

Thanks!

Mary

If you want to ditch it then ditch it. This day is about you two as a couple and you get to make it how you want it, and if that means no parent first dances then so be it.

It sounds like skipping parent dances is the best option for you 2. I would do a first dance with you and your FH and then move on Smiley smile

We're not doing parent dances. It's just not US. It makes us uncomfortable even thinking about it. If you want to ditch all together, that would be no problem at all.

Hi there, Mary. Firstly, welcome to the WeddingWire community.

If you and your FH would like to skip these parent spotlight dances that is 100% ok. You don’t have to do them by any means.
