Hi! My fiance and I are in the early stages of planning a wedding. We are laid back people and don't want anything fancy or expensive, we just want to get all of our loved ones together for a fun and joyous celebration. We have a guest list of 100 and want to spend no more than $5000 on the venue and all necessary rentals (tables, chairs, place settings, tent, etc).

Any suggestions? A barn or backyard wedding sound PERFECT but unfortunately we don't know anyone with a large enough space. I'm trying to think outside the box and look at vacation rentals, but as soon as I explain the type of event I'm trying to hold, they either say it's impossible or the rental fee suddenly skyrockets (like from $1500 to $8000).

Our requirements are room for 100, availability for spring/summer 2018, not a super early end time (IDEALLY a property we could have for the whole night), BYO catering/alcohol, private rustic/woodsy setting and location in the tri-state area of PA/NY/NJ.

Thanks!

@Hotmessinathriftstoredress awesome!! We need to stay closer to central/eastern PA but that venue sounds amazing. I have actually been finding venues around the same price out here once I started to expand my search outside of the more "fashionable" areas like Bucks County and the Poconos. Good luck and thanks for the inspiration Smiley smile

No... Your dad having "all morning and afternoon to prepare and then hand over the reins" will probably not change anyone's opinion about that :-\

Doesn't change my opinion. It's a special day for your dad. He shouldn't have to spend all morning and afternoon slaving away in a kitchen, even if he says he wants to. Because once it's happening, HE WON'T WANT TO.

Check out Jam Catering (Jeffery Miller)!!!!

    http://jamcater.com/

I am getting married there this fall and it is exactly as you described! the BYO aspect really help you keep cost down! We are getting married at John James Audubon Center which is the perfect mix of park wedding with a barn and reception area. unlike most park weddings each reception and cocktail hour location is covered so no need to worry about rain!

Have you tried looking at any of the Jeffrey A. Miller venues? I don't know whether or not you will be able to pull it off with just $5,000 - that will depend on what you want that money to cover. My fiancé and I are getting married at the Aldie Mansion this October, which might not fit your vibe, but JAM is the exclusive caterer for about 6 or 7 other venues. JAM is made on site the day of your wedding, start to finish. The menus range depending on season, day of week, and what you choose - plated or buffet. You also can save a lot of alcohol because it is BYOB - they provide cups, napkins, bartender, etc. - you just need to provide the alcohol. The food is great, and they are wonderful to work with. I would definitely suggest looking at some of their venues - maybe even Anthony Wayne House!

Look into John James Audubon Center in PA! They have a GORGEOUS barn and a party of 100 will absolutely fit in there. It's outdoorsy/rustic, Jeffrey Miller does the catering, and BYO-- hits all your requests!

I definitely recommend Jeffrey Miller Catering! We are getting married at the Duke Art Gallery with them in September (coming up so soon!) and after a lot of research and venue viewing they were the most affordable for what we will receive on our wedding day. They are also working with us to accommodate a fully gluten free menu (FH has celiac) and lots of veggie options (I'm a vegetarian). Duke Art Gallery is one of their more affordable options and it is beautiful!

Audubon Center in PA! It checks off all of your requirements. It's a beautiful setting and they only book one wedding/day. There's a barn, it's BYO alcohol, they have all of the tables, chairs, etc. you'll need and have a very helpful staff. The food is catered by Jeffrey Miller and highlight farm to table, local ingredients. We're getting married there in October and are so excited!
