We would like to have a friend officiate our wedding in PA. He'd need to be ordained online and I want to make sure the court will accept our marriage license application. We are getting married in Bucks County so we were planning on using that courthouse, but could easily go to a neighboring county. Has anyone gotten married by an online minister in PA? If so, what online organization did you use? What documentation did you or the officiant have to give to the courthouse so that your online minister could legally officiate your wedding?

    Hi Paula,

Would you be willing to officiate my wedding it is going to be in Stahlstown in Westmoreland County, and we are looking for someone to officiate? Actually, let me be more specific. My fiance's grandmother is going to perform our wedding ceremony, but she can't legally pronounce us husband and wife, so we are looking for someone to come to our wedding venue earlier that day and with only our parents do a short and sweet ceremony, and then later in the day when his grandmother does her ceremony we will already be husband and wife, and we won't have 2 separate wedding anniversary date.

Paula - would you be interested?

Also, has anyone that did the self-uniting marriage been questioned on the legality of the marriage?

    Thank you!

    Kristen

DOES ANYONE KNOW IF HANDFASTING DURING A CEREMONY (FOR UNITY IN PLACE OF UNITY CANDLES OR SAND) IS A RECOGNIZED WEDDING?

Hi nickia! All of those unity ceremonies (handfasting, unity candle, unity sand, etc.) are just symbolic ceremonies based on your personal preference - they don't have anything to do with the legality of the wedding ceremony!

Hi Kristen! Paula's comment is from 2015, so she may not see your response!

Have you looked for a local officiant you can hire through the WeddingWire local vendor search?

I got ordained for my friends wedding and we live in Berks County, PA. I was able to do it with no problems. It depends where you go. I know Bucks doesnt accept it right now and I went with the Universal Life Church Monastery

Does anyone know if a Judge from the state of Virginia can Officiate a wedding in Delaware County, PA? The law appears to read that they can't but the courthouse said the couple just needed to fill out paperwork. I can't seem to get a straight answer. Thank you.

Hey Brooke. We are getting married in Berks County but live in schuylkill county. Would we need to go through Berks or schuylkill county to do this? My fiancé’s uncle wanted to become ordained but he lives in California. But idk what the first step is. Any info you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Please clarify...”the actual marriage certificate will reflect the municipality where the ceremony was performed.

    Please send response to ********@*****.***

I am hoping to get married in Nov 2020 -- and Covid Wave 2 could be upon us. I haven't given up hope but reading through some of the questions and answers I am hoping for some addition guidance. My brother lives on the West Coast. I am in Chester County. PA. I am hoping for him to get ordained and perform the ceremony. If there are travel restrictions, does anyone know if Chester County allow the ceremony via ZOOM or Skye. Other option is for us to do a self-uniting marriage - Does Chester County allow for these anyone know the process to go about ensure its legal?

Has anyone had experience with Adams County PA? I have my ordination from Universal Life Church, and my niece wants me to marry her in Gettysburg. I am reading conflicting information as to whether it will be legally recognized. I am not from PA, so I am not familiar with other counties in that area that would recognize it.
