Outer and Inner Envelope Advice

CaliBride2B, on February 3, 2016 at 7:41 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9

Hi Ladies! I'd like to do inner and outer envelopes for my invitations. I want one envelope in white and the other in a shimmer opal color. My question is, which color should be the outer envelope be?

*My RSVP envelops will likely be in white, but I'm also thinking maybe I could order those in the shimmer color as well depending on which color the inner envelope is.

White for the outside I think. That way the opal stays nice in the mail.

I agree with GGH, white for outside.

This is what I did and it looks beautiful. Outside envelopes are white and inner are a shimmer gray.

I would do white for the outside and opal for the inside. We're doing "cool grey" outer envelopes and "amethyst" inner envelopes. The prettier envelope will stay nice in the mail Smiley smile

I'm doing the inner and outer envelops as well....Red for the inner envelop, and White for the outer envelop. We chose red for the inner envelop because it not only goes with our color scheme but its apart of our invitations (regardless of the whole inner and outer thing). The White (outer envelop) is just to put the invitation (in the inner envelop of course) in and stick it through the mail (we don't really care if the outer envelop gets dirty or what-not).

What were doing as well is addressing the outer envelop......and on the inner envelop we're making the invitation specific.

For example: Outer envelop: John Smith

    123 Weddington Street

    Marriage, CA 12345

Inner envelop (more directed to the person(s) invited: John Smith & Guest or Mr. and Mrs. Smith or John Smith & Carol Schmoe

Part of the idea of inner envelopes is to have a "nice" envelope even if the outer one gets banged up in the mail. So I'd have the more colorful one on the inside.

We're doing the more colorful envelope on the inside, because what we wanted doesn't come in an A7.5. The color options for that size are very limited anymore.
