Outdoor Wedding sound-HELP!

FutureMrs.D, on July 8, 2016 at 11:01 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

Okay so, as of right now I am planning a backyard wedding. Does anyone have ideas for what they did or are going to do for sound during the ceremony? Did you rent sound equipment? Have the D.J. come early? what? This is super important to me as I hate when I attend weddings and can't hear anything.

Thank you for your input! That was kind of what I was thinking of doing, but didn't know if that was normal.

My venue provided mics, but I bought my own sound system for ceremony music. We didn't want the DJ to be late to the reception (they are in different places).

My "venue" is my future in-laws' backyard.

The officiant we hired provides sound system and we get to pick ceremony music they will provide

We hired our band's sound guy (since he was going to be there anyway) to provide audio for the ceremony (including a mic for the string quartet) too.

Check with your DJ, especially if they are doing ceremony music. Some officiants will provide sound, but in NJ, the airwaves are so busy that I am always worried about static.

Our Dj is doing the ceremony as well so they will take care of that.

Nothing is set in stone yet, but my fiance really wants to have either a violinst or guitarist for our ceremony and then we'll have a DJ for the reception.

We planned to have our DJ do it (for just $200), but we opted for a guitarist. Luckily the guitarist brings a battery operated PA and was happy to plug a mic into his system for the officiant. Otherwise we would have had to rent a system for about $200.

LOL,,,I thought this was going to be a thread saying, "I found a great venue with the perfect outdoor ceremony spot. The only negative is the highway that sits behind it. Any ideas on how to deal with highway noise?" I would have written my first one word answer: "no".

We have an outdoor garden/courtyard venue, and our DJ is coming about an hour to an hour and a half early to set up. He's also supplying the mic for the officiant.

It helps a lot if the DJ gets to see the venue before the wedding day if they've never been there before, so they can plan out the best speaker placement, where the outlets are, etc.

I'm getting married in a garden. Our dj is setting up about an hour before and playing music starting about 30 minutes before ceremony starts. He actually has multiple set ups so he will be set up and ready for the ceremony sight, cocktail hour on the veranda, and be set up inside for the reception without having to move anything which I love
