Outdoor wedding & reception - tent questions

Lyndsey, on September 30, 2019 at 4:51 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 8

Our wedding ceremony and reception are both outside, in Candler, NC (just outside of Asheville) on Saturday Oct 12th. It's looking like the highs will be in the 70s and lows possibly in the 40s. Wedding is at 5pm, reception from 6:30 - 10pm. Then campfire after party (everyone is staying on site in cabins). My question is: should we get tent sides? And what about heaters? The heaters are very pricey. We were trying to keep the cost down and we also like the way an open tent looks more, but we also don't want people to be uncomfortable. Thanks!

For lows in the 40s I would absolutely get heaters. We had dinner outside with temperatures in the 60s and our guests very much appreciated the heaters.

Heaters alone? Or you did tent sides and heaters? We will also have a fire pit on one side of the tent (s'mores bar). I'd almost rather people get warm by a fire than a bit ol heater lol.

Heaters only, we didn’t have a tented wedding and dancing was in a separate area that was indoors. Dinner was from 530-715ish and temperatures were in the mid to high 60s in the evening.

Love that! But we have a tent, so we can't do those stand up heaters inside...they are these big boxy ones. Not sure what those would do to be turned on with no tent sides.

I would get tent sides & heaters. My cousin had tent sides & heaters and it was in the low 60s and people were still very cold. I'd alert people in advance the entire wedding will be outside so they can come prepared with heavy jackets. Are you doing something like blankets & hand warmers for favors? Or hot drinks available?

Then I would definitely do tent sides and the other kind of heaters.

I would do tent sides, especially as a back up for rain. The sides can usually be removed if you'd like to have the more open air atmosphere earlier in the day or if it ends up being unseasonably warm and nice out. If you decide against heaters, I would definitely do blankets and hand warmers as favors. "To have and to hold in case you get cold."
