Outdoor Wedding in a Missouri October, Cake? Dessert Table? Help!

Angelica, on May 13, 2021 at 11:29 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 3
Our wedding is this upcoming October at a beautiful outdoor pavilion. I expect the weather to be mild. My dilemma is, what do I do for a cake or dessert table? I'm concerned how guests will feel if the food is just out in the open so I'm torn as what to do. Ideally I would love to have a cake but I'm open to other ideas. What are your plans? Do you have any ideas for me? TIA!

I got married in March in Texas and we had an outdoor reception. The weather was sunny and around 70. It was beautiful.

The cake was outside but in the shade the entire reception - from around 2:30 until 5:30pm. The cake was fine. The guests were fine. No one even thought about it. We had a special cake stand and it was absolutely beautiful.
A friend made our cake and she tested before on a smaller tester cake if her frosting would hold up outside in the sun. It did. Talk to your baker. But it should be fine. If you are worried, you could also have the cake delivered at the end of the reception, shortly before you cut and eat it.

Talk to your baker about some options! Our reception is inside, but our baker was able to offer a variety of things based on our tastes and vision, including different frostings and options. You could also have just the cake out on display, and if you choose to have other desserts, can the venue keep them inside and bring them out just before dessert is served? I don't think many people will pay much mind to them being outdoors as long as they aren't in direct sunlight melting.

I agree! Your cake / dessert should be fine as long as they aren't melting in direct sunlight!! Smiley cake

Or you could decide to not display your sweets until it's actually time for dessert! (But then you'll need to have someone in charge of set-up)
