Outdoor Long Island Wedding in October

Daniela, on July 19, 2018 at 10:51 AM Posted in New York Planning 0 3

Hello all. So my FH and I are doing our wedding a year early due to my grandma and it has been stressful. We have always wanted to get married on the water somewhere and were able to find a venue in Bayville, NY right on the Long Island Sound. They only have October 5th and 26th available for this year so we are going to have to pick one of those dates. Would it be crazy to have an outdoor ceremony on either of those dates due to weather? Has anyone had a beach wedding in October in Long Island and thought it was too cold? Also, what would be a good time to start the ceremony? Thanks to all in advance for your answers!

I feel like October 5th might be ok. Its usually still warm then. Late October though...I wouldn't risk it. Either way, you'd need a backup plan for rain that you could also put into effect if its too chilly.

Hi Daniela! One of my best friends lives on LI and I went to visit her last year in October! I thought the weather was great, it was mid 60s which I think it perfect for a wedding! I would go ahead with the earlier date for better luck with the weather! Since it isn't daylight savings yet, I would start the ceremony anywhere between 2-4pm!

The weather is USUALLY still nice here that first week in October, but I have attended one October wedding that was TOO cold (a few years back) on that same week. I wouldn't even attempt the 26th. It has snowed as early as that in the past!
