I’m not having a backyard wedding but it’s an entire wedding in the woods. It’s costing a fortune! Since everything from tables, chairs, food, tents, electric and luxury bathroom trailers has to be brought in. Everything costs more. If you can avoid it I would recommend it. I didn’t realize how involved it would be.

I wouldn't do it. I looked at the costs just for a diy hall and it was going to cost a small fortune. You have to rent EVERYTHING! Tables, chairs, bar, buffet tables. where is everyone going to park? Restrooms? The only way I would do it is if I had less than 30 guests. I have thrown house parties for that many people and it wasn't to terrible. But anything over that would be a major headache

Please don't try to self cater. It really is just as economical to go with BBQ or Italian and almost everyone enjoys that cuisine. Lighting is going to be very important if the reception is going into the night hours. Please don'[t scrimp on that. Make sure there is adequate parking and PLEASE inform any geographically close neighbors of your event. And if you have close neighbors watch the volume on any music. These can be some of the most creative and beautiful kinds of wedding but it's even more important to give detailed attention to the logistics.

Don't do it. Lol. I started planning a backyard wedding and quickly backed out when the cost and work started to add up. Just know you have to rent EVERYTHING and be extra conscious of guest comfort. This means everything from having enough bathrooms, parking and that all weather considerations are covered (rain, hot sun, bugs)

I’m planning mine now. It’s not impossible but just make sure you have the right resources. My parents live on 22 acres of land. So we’re having the ceremony further back on the land and then the reception closer to the house. We’re close enough to the house/my fathers shop to have bathrooms and power. I live in a smaller city in NC, and I’m paying less than $2000 for the tent, chairs and tables for 130 people, linens, dance floor and lights. My budget is around $6000 (give or take). But I’m also a shopper, I research until I find the cheapest prices. It’s definitely possible though. Good luck!

That's a great price. For 50 guests my costs were up to $4000 which was so much more than the venue I rented for $1200 including tables and chairs.
