Outdoor April Ceremony in Maine- Too Cold???

Nicole, on November 12, 2019 at 12:53 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 2

Hello!

We are looking to have our wedding in Portland Maine on April 25th (potentially May2nd). Because I am a teacher, these weekends surround my April Vacation and allow for either the following week off of work OR the week prior open for final planning and DIY. My Questions Are:

-Anyone ever get married OUTSIDE by the sea this time of the year? Am I nuts? Too Cold?

-Has anyone searched for/found EASY, AFFORDABLE ceremony-only locations in Portland Maine area?

    Hi Nicole,

I live in NE and I would say that having a ceremony outside during that time of the year is like playing Russian roulette. The weather could be great or it could be freezing and maybe even rainy. Especially by the water with the breeze! I would say that if you are set on having it outside, at that location, that time of the year you could definitely make it work though. Maybe you could have a "to have and to hold in case you get cold" sign and have blankets out so people can wrap themselves around the blanket during the ceremony. That would be a cute way to helping people stay warm!

I personally did not search for venues around that area so I am of no help in that department.

Overall, whatever you decide will be perfect!

    Hey there Nicole!

As the PP mentioned, the weather in Maine could be unpredictable at this time so if you’re planning an outdoor wedding, definitely have a backup plan in case of adverse conditions.

In relation to the ceremony venue, does your venue have a space where one can be performed? Or perhaps it has a sister venue (like hotels have sister hotels!) where you could rent a space for the ceremony.
