Out of Town guest

Monica, on February 20, 2022 at 10:19 AM Posted in Community Conversations 5 13

I was thinking since Robert and my family and a lot of friends are from the east coast and other parts of the world and are coming to Houston to celebrate and witness our union, that upon arrival we can have welcome goody bags waiting for them. I want to know what the community thinks, yea or nah. If so, give me some genuine and authentic ideas of what that should be.

Welcome bags are totally optional and can definitely be skipped, but if they're in the budget, they are a nice touch! My fiance and I are doing welcome bags for those staying in our hotel room block. We're putting things like a map of the area, coupons for local businesses, bottles of water, snacks (one sweet snack and one salty snack), a deck of cards, sunglasses, a small first aid kit, and a welcome note from my fiance and me.

I'm doing this for our out of state and out of country guests! It's going to include local business goodies (popcorn bag, pretzel bag, Hershey's Kisses since we grew up going to Hershey park), a local postcard, travel mosquito spray for the summer, a welcome/thank you letter, and I'm thinking a fun facial mask to feel pampered. They're all gonna be in gift bags my mom found which perfectly match our theme... painted chinoiserie topiaries.

Thanks Lisa, I appreciate that. That is exactly what we planned on doing for the guest that will check into the hotel block reserved. I like those ideas.

I'm in Houston as well and you know it gets HOT in May so anything to keep them cool. If they are coming to stay a bit longer maybe a map of places to visit like the Galleria or downtown areas, bars, Kemah Boardwalk and I believe Splash Town would be open in May.

Yes, the goody bags are a must! We, or I should say, my mother-in-law made them. She put them together and then gave them to the front desk at the hotel with instructions to give them out each time an out-of-town guest checked in. They went over really well. 😊 They weren’t anything fancy, little snacks, hand sanitizer, and maybe some tissues, along with a thank-you note.

The welcome bag message was one of our fav parts to do together as a couple. We shared why we love our city & gave recs on food, activities, and safety all along an Avengers map/theme. I used Amazon for gift bags, individually wrapped slippers, eye masks, hydration packs, advil. Hit Target & HomeGoods for smart water & snack nuts. And a dentist friend gave us toothbrushes, etc as our hotel didn't have a store. All are optional really and don't have to be expensive.

I think a welcome bag for your guests is an elegant touch! Sounds like fun to shop for. I would think travel sizes of things would be great.

We had welcome bags for our out of town guests as well! They were handed their bags upon checking into the hotel in our hotel block (we dropped them off with the hotel staff ahead of time). We included water bottles, various sweet and salty snacks, mini hangover kits, and a welcome note with an itinerary for the weekend. Honestly I think that guests appreciate the snacks the most
