Ok so my husband and I are already legally married however we are doing our big ceremony in October. I for him decided to do it in the state where his family is from so that they could come. I actually have some family from there as well so it at first didn't seem like such a bad idea. However now as people are receiving the save the dates I keep getting the same response "I will try my best to make it." I am so scared that none of my friends will show up other than my wedding party and my family. Which honestly hurts me because I have gone out of my way to go to all of their weddings in the past. And not only that I hired a babysitter to watch all of the kids for those of my friends who have kids and couldn't find a babysitter. So I feel I have gone above and beyond to make it as easy as possible for everyone. I do understand that time and money is tight for everyone but I feel like its not that difficult. I will honeI know you don't know me but am I sounding unreasonable? I hope not

Okay, sometimes you just have to say fuck etiquette, first of all. It's your wedding, you had a marriage ceremony. The party is part of the wedding. Second, you have to accept that it might be tough for people to make it to an out of state wedding. Our wedding is in OUR home state, but most of our guests do not live here. We are delighted for each and every person who has committed to coming. We are understanding of those who can't make it. If you can try to have that attitude, your feelings won't be hurt, and you will be able to enjoy your big day.

I don't think that is rude at all.I am in the military so I completely understand. We set a date for our wedding but I may be getting deployed before the date so if that happens we are getting married at a courthouse, and delaying the wedding until I come back. A lot of people in the military do that. If you have friends that you really would like there I would ask them their thoughts, and if they have any issues see what you can do to help.We are having a destination wedding so to cut costs we are getting a suite that fits 12, and renting a 15 passenger van because everyone wanted to drive anyway.
