    Open bar.
Most guest won’t have cash on them. And it is always awkward for those who don’t, or who don’t have enough, to cover the drinks.....

We personally have chosen to do a cash bar. We aren’t big drinkers and are having a morning wedding/brunch reception so we were okay to forgo the bar altogether except for that eliminated champagne for the toasts and members of our family wanted us to have the option of alcohol available for guests. We notified everyone on our wedding website that we would be providing a champagne toast and that there would be other alcohol available in the form of a cash bar. We are providing many nonalcoholic drinks in addition to water such as juices, coffee and teas, so the cash bar felt like a good compromise for our budget and everyone’s wishes. Alcohol is optional-no one would be required to purchase anything, but can chose to if what has been fully paid for isn’t to their preference. We have also been to other weddings that had cash bars and never heard complaints/had a bad experience. They are also typically more tightly controlled so you are less likely to have underage drinking or anyone being over served.
