Our Rustic Disney Reception

Ciara, on April 11, 2018 at 2:07 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 20
My fiancée and I are getting married May 31st, 2019 and we are currently planning a Disney reception (which was actually his idea since I have a HUGE love for all things Disney). We are trying to stay rustic with the look because our ceremony is country rustic and we want everything to still have a similar look. (If that makes sense.) I will even be carrying a bouquet of Stitches that my grandmother made me a few years ago as a surprise for her.

We have found centerpieces that we love using mason jars (I have included a photo) and instead of just Beauty and the Beast we are going to make each table a different Disney “world” (Beauty - France, Frozen - Arendelle, Lilo and Stitch - Hawaii, etc.)

We will also be including several other movies in other aspects other than the centerpieces like Up with the Adventure Book (guest book table) and the mailbox that they paint their names on.

I guess ultimately my question is if you guys have any suggestions on how to include Disney into our reception other than wheat ive already found. The movies we want to incorporate somehow are:

Lilo & Stitch (my fav so it’ll be on the head table)
Goofy (grooms fav so also on the head table)
Toy Story
Nightmare Before Christmas
Monsters Inc.
Lion King
Peter Pan
Hercules
The Jungle Book
Tarzan
The Little Mermaid
Beauty and the Beast
Aladdin
A Bugs Life
Finding Nemo
Up (already going to be the guest book table)
Moana
The Incredibles
Cars
Emporers New Groove
Frozen
Zootopia

I have been looking on Pinterest but have been finding a lot of the same things. Any suggestions/help would be amazing! Thank you!

WHoa there. Thats a lot to incorporate. I did once see a bride here who did amazing centerpieces with themes from Disney movies. Don't go overboard or it could end up looking like a child's birthday party. Subtle is key.

I have considered that it would be a lot. We probably will not use all those movies especially since the wedding will be small (80 or less). The centerpieces are simply going to be the mason jar with the silhouettes, nothing else (like in the photo). No figurines or anything like that. (Although I considered it and then ruled it out due to the child’s look).

I agree I think you should narrow down the movies you want incorporated and do thinks subtle. Instead of having the decal of beauty and the beast have the rose in the jar like movie. Things like that. It’s not super obvious but still recognizable and ties in

Disney, now you're talking my language! My suggestion would put a priority list of your favorite Disney movies. Make 3 groups. "Absolutely must have", "Would be super nice", and "If we have enough room". The absolutely must haves you can use for each table, then any tables left over you can use the would be super nice or even if we have enough room.

For Night Mare before Christmas you can do a purple and black themed floral centerpiece with some of the potion bottles sally uses in the movie.

Little Mermaid (My favorite) Decorate with dinglehoppers and seashells of course! floating water candles decorated with seashells at the bottom (can find most supplies at dollar store)

Monsters Inc you can make a comedy central themed table hosted by Mike M. You can probably use rustic decorations and place jokes on them through out the table or center.

Toy Story is tough.. Are you having a kids section or table at the reception? This world would be more easily

Just a few ideas that hopefully help start your imagination.

I have thought about doing a kids table since a lot of our guests will be family and family friends that have kids. I just didn’t know how to incorporate it because I thought I would feel bad for saying “kids sit over here while adults sit over here” ya know? Especially since I know a lot of these kids really well, going on like 7+ years for most of them.

Ah, understandable! I wouldn’t feel bad at all, it’s whatever you want to do. Maybe ask the kids their opinion, see if they want to sit together or rather be with the adults. Some kids might prefer the kid table so they don’t feel like they have to just sit there and be quiet, they can let loose and have fun.

My favorite DM is the Lion King but can’t find any good ideas for a centerpiece since I don’t want fake plastic toys incorporated. But Pirates is my fave DM so that centerpiece is gonna be a little bit bigger than the rest. I have some large Disney globes but was only wanting to use the Ariel one then to the 3 arm candelabra and 3 of the candles with the star fish to go around the globe. What you think ? Is the globe a yes or no?

Your centerpieces are super cute!! Your pink carriage is it a good size? Table numbers are so cute! I’m not having any table numbers. My seating chart will be by Disney movie so they’d just have to look for that centerpiece

I actually got the idea for the centerpieces from a seating chart I saw on Pinterest. I am not doing a seating chart simply because I refuse to tell people “this is where you have to sit” but I LOVED the idea of the tables being different Disney movies so I kept the concept.

I’m also doing Disney for our wedding! I have a huge list of movies but it’s just for reference. I’ll eventually decide which ones I want for center pieces.
