Our friend's daughter was going to watch our 5 year old german shepherd on the day of the wedding, but i got a text from her yesterday telling me she probably wont be able to do it because her daughter has exams that week. Our only option now is to bring her to the hotel and she'll stay with me...

Our friend's daughter was going to watch our 5 year old german shepherd on the day of the wedding, but i got a text from her yesterday telling me she probably wont be able to do it because her daughter has exams that week.

Our only option now is to bring her to the hotel and she'll stay with me there the night before to get used to the smells and stuff. we spoke to my parents and my dad said he would watch her in his room while I got ready and then when it's time to go he'll take her to my room,

I'm just worried she's going to get stressed out being in an unfamiliar place, but we don't have any other options. I don't want to put her in a kennel, I don't trust strangers with her there's so much animal abuse that goes on behind closed doors.

I'm sure it will be fine I'm just stressing because its so close to the wedding. ugh.

What PPs have said. Ask your vet for a recommendation. If we have to board our dogs (we don't like doing it either), we board them at a highly-reputable place in a sound-proof suite (one of our dogs gets super stressed with all of the barking) where they can sleep together and we can watch them on video anytime, anywhere. With your wedding still a month away, you probably still have time to arrange for in-home care. If your vet doesn't have any recommendations for that, try calling local trainers and/or rescue groups. We found our in-home dog sitter through a local rescue group, and she's literally the best thing that ever happened to my dogs.

Most dogs can not be left alone in a hotel room regardless of how pet friendly they are. Try a pet resort. We use Dr. Boyd's and trust them completely. Super professional, clean and our Mae loves it!

I'd kennel her. You can find a boutique pet resort or something similar where you know she'll be taken care of. Use Google, yelp, your vet and word of mouth to find a great one!

Ok I haven't read the other comments yet so forgive me if this is a repeat. But have you heard of Rover.com ? It has dog boarding in a person's home and other options that might work for you. They usually also have very reasonable prices and they are insured and background checked.

ETA: many also offer in home visits or house sitting as well.

Yea you don't want to leave your dog in a hotel room where he can tear almost everything up. Look at a kennel
