Ordering Wedding Dress Online?

I would look at return policies of the places you are ordering from. If you can return them maybe order 2-3 that you are really interested in and do a mini party/dress try on with those that you care to have there. This way you can still experience a bit of the say yes to the dress within the own comfort of your home and without the hassle to try on a trillion dresses. Or if you have your eye set on a particular dress, get it and do a reveal. My mom ordered her dress on Amazon and it was gorgeous. There are also options to "order” a dress to try on but only pay if you decide to keep it.

I was similar in that the idea of trying on lots of dresses just didn’t appeal to me, especially not with an entourage in tow. I did a TON of online “window shopping”, which helped me figure out what I did and didn’t like/want in a dress. When I finally found one that I loved, I found a bridal boutique that had a sample I could try on, and invited just my mom to go with me. We had to drive 5.5 hours each way just to try it on, but it was totally worth it! I just couldn’t imagine spending thousands of dollars on a dress online without trying it on; especially since none of the major, trusted designers allow returns (and there are sooooooo many cheap knockoff scam sites out there)! Similarly, I wasn’t stoked on going BM dress shopping either, so I am just letting my girls choose whatever dress they want.

I don't shop online. Well I looked at few dresses but I needed to see how the dress looked on me. I took one friend with me because most of my friends live out of state. I tried on 2 dresses and realized that the first dress I tried on was perfect.

View Quoted Comment Look online too see what appeals to you. It wasn't the first one! I went in a time before and everything looked horrible on me lol. So it was the sixth dress actually. Just get an idea of what you like. That way you can tell them what you're looking for. Also be open to what shape you want.

Just make sure you are ordering from a real, reputable retailer, and not a knock-off company. There are many websites that advertise pictures of beautiful dresses, but many are based overseas and make knock-offs of the dresses pictured, not originals. Check reviews and where companies are based. In short, if it's too good to be true, it probably is.

I ordered my dress online from Azazie and tried it on alone at home. They have sample dresses they can send you. I did not want to have tons of people stare at me and sway any decisions I made.

I've been faithfully searching online and have some dresses pinned that I absolutely love! I'm hoping if I do go to a boutique that they'll have something similar, I just haven't had much luck yet looking online at the local shops. Thanks!

Are the websites you are looking at in the States or overseas ones? It could be not a good experience getting one from a shop overseas with the quality and sizes and everything.

That's cool I've just ordered a dress that is coming to me from USA I hope (I live in Australia) and I hope it's ok when it comes. It's tricky buying something off the internet when you can't try it on or see it first

I've ordered my dress on Etsy, a custom project because I had a pretty clear idea of what I want but wasn't able to find it anywhere. I haven't received it yet (it will be ready in December), but the designer has been amazing, sending me sketches of different versions and like a tone of fabric swatches, we've also been communicating all the time. She had lot's of ideas, even little things like pockets (I live for pockets) or stitching our wedding date into the sleeve. And they have great reviews, too.
