I know this has been discussed before, but I'd like to hear your thoughts on a Friday wedding in our situation.

We are getting married in our rural hometown at a location that's very special to us (the same place where we had our first date, luckily it's a beautiful location!), and we will save $1,000 on the venue alone by choosing a Friday over a Saturday. I assume we *may* also save on DJ/photographer costs down the road by choosing a less popular day. We are planning a June 2014 wedding so our guests have TONS of time to make arrangements, and about 90% of our guests live within 30-40 minutes of the venue. Maybe another 5% live within 2 hours, and the only guests who will be flying in are my dad, his wife, and my maid of honor.

Any advice or thoughts on this? To me it's an obvious choice, FH and I are paying for most of the wedding ourselves and every bit of savings helps! Would love to hear from other Friday brides or those who've attended a Friday wedding!

Ohhh also I would much much rather take half a friday off for a friend or cousins wedding than waste an entire long weekend by cutting it in half to go tot a wedding. Save the money.

From what you explained it seems fine to me; enough time to plan, few out of town guests so no issues of calling work off for the majority and it's at night, after many working hours. For me as a guest, i would be totally fine with it.

We had a fri wedding with cereminy start time of 6:30 and not a single person had an issue with time or the day. Getting off early or taking a day was not an issue a all for our guests. They loved starting the wknd out right on a good and happy note with tons of good food and drinks. I say if the can't come due to fri then likely they were not going to come on sat either. Sorry thats how I feel.

We are having a Friday wedding this July. We chose it to save money and now we are getting pretty excited for something different! We sent our Save the Dates already and have had nothing but positive comments! The out of towers are excited for an extra day and a lot of people already had something going on that Saturday so they were excited about being able to go to ours!

We are having a Friday wedding. Most guests are 45 min away. Our STDs are going out this month, so people have plenty of time to make arrangements. You can't please everyone, and if people have issues with the day and don't care to make arrangements to be there then who needs them there!

I like them for multiple reasons
-more family atmosphere created not a big drunken party, people tend to contain themselves
-cheaper for Fridays
-all weekend for them to recover if they do get wasted
-people won't over stay causing extra fees for not being out on time
- and my date falls on a Friday

I come from a family that have OOT attendees all the time who will take a few days off before the wedding anyway. People who want to be there will not have a problem taking off to get there.

I tried to convince FH to have a Friday wedding because our venue was $5pp off, which would have saved us almost $1000 and would make up for the chair covers we have to get in order to hide the hideous chairs they have. He wouldn't go for it, my family lives all within 10 minutes of our venue so it wouldn't be an issue for them. His family lives about an hour away, near a city, which means it'd be such a rushed time to get home from work, get ready and try to beat the rush hour traffic they would hit. None of them are in the place to take off of work for the day. He won, our wedding is a Saturday.
