Opinion on Uncle/niece Song Idea

Hey guys! I wanted to get outside opinions on this.

My uncle is walking me down the aisle on my wedding day and I’m trying to figure out a song to dance with him to. My first thought was “Brown-Eyed Girl” by Van Morrison. I know that’s meant to be a romantic song, but here’s why I thought about that. Years ago when a different uncle of mine was getting married, that just happened to be song playing when my uncle and I danced along to it. It’s a special memory for me, so I wanted to make it a full circle moment.
I just wanted to see if anybody else thought it would be weird to use that song given that it’s about someone’s first love. I would make sure to tell the DJ to not play the “making love in the green grass” line 😬

If the sing has meaning to you (memories etc) then go for it. No one will be analyzing lyrics either.

I don't think the lyrics are too bad at all!! I saw go for it, especially since it brings back happy memories!

If it brings back happy memories than go for it! If you’re worried about what others will think, maybe have the DJ say something like “this is a song they danced to so many years ago & it holds a very special place in their hearts!”

My dad and I danced to "Time of My Life" from the Dirty Dancing soundtrack.
Our DJ edited it so it was less romantic, and more just about a close relationship. Ask your DJ if they can cut it so it works better for your special dance!

I am the only girl in a family of 3 boys, and my parents always used "Brown Eyed Girl" as my song (I have brown eyes) and have heard it my whole life. I actually never even realized there was that lyric in it lol! I am planning on using it as my first dance song with my dad and I am actually glad to hear someone else is using it too, and that it isn't weird!
