Opinion needed on bridesmaids dresses. sos

I’m letting my girls pick their own dresses with only three minor conditions: 1) the color has the match the swatch (don’t care where they buy the dresses) 2) they have to be modest in terms of cleavage because of the church modesty guidelines and 3) I wanna see the dress first before they buy their dresses.


#3 seems to be a point of contention, and I’m wondering if I’m being unreasonable for wanting to see the dresses first.
I don’t wanna show up and be surprised on the day of the wedding. I kind of wanna be the only dress surprising the crowd.
Please tell me it’s not normal for bridesmaids to NOT be willing to show you the dress before the big day.

    I would bristle at this a little because it sounds like you're giving them freedom but actually you're policing what they buy. Either give them parameters and actually let them pick what they want, or pick something for them to buy.

    I gave them parameters. Any silhouette as long as there’s no cleavage. So not really policing just don’t wanna be surprised on the day of the wedding.

    And I just wanna see the dress to make sure the cleavage is modest. I think I mentioned the church modesty guidelines in my post. I have 6 bridesmaids. 5 haven’t had an issue with it. 🤷🏼‍♀️

    It's the part about having to see it before they buy - that's what would frustrate me. It seems like you don't trust them to pick a dress based on your parameters. Can you see how that might rub people the wrong way? I totally understand the desire to see if before the wedding, though.
