open card box

Brittney, on July 26, 2012 at 2:05 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

I bought a small trunk looking box from Michael's last week to be our card box. It is really cute and has enough room I think. I have been seeing everyone elses card boxes and they are usually closed boxes with probably a slit to put the cards in.

Do you all think that having an open card box is a bad idea? I feel bad thinking that somebody would take from us, but I would also feel terrible for any of my guests if their card to us went unwillingly to somebody else:/

Our card box is open. I'm just going to put a couple of people in charge of keeping an eye on it and emptying it from time to time. I'm also going to place it in the dining room with us, so hopefully no one will be ballsy enough to steal in front of 100 pairs of eyes!!

We're having an open card box. I'm honestly not worried about someone taking any cards out of it. I've seen pictures of the open trunk style card boxes and I think they're adorable!

Ours was open. We had no problems of missing cards.

    What Kristen said!

I think as long as you put it in a visible place and do those other things like emptying it, etc it should be fine.

Mine is closed. I was at a friends wedding and a couple of envelopes went missing so don't want to take the chance.

Please be careful, it is an open box, and sticky fingers can get in there. Please have someone guard the gift table.

Read up on someone that had their money stolen

and someone that thought... It won't happen to me.... She had her GIFTS stolen!

I would just be sure to have someone guarding the gift table, and get those cards into a locked, safe, and secure location right before dinner starts.

I really like those! They are so cute. But if I did one I'd probably have someone watching over it. You just never know...

I love the idea of an open box. However, I am opposed to doing such because after my mothers wedding she realized she was missing a card. She questions if more than one was missing. We could not think of anyone that would do such a thing. Nevertheless, the card was missing. Many people would not confront you if they never received a thank you so chances of finding out if anything is missing are slim.

I like the open card box, but FH didn't because of people having sticky fingers. I am sure that our guests wouldn't do that, but there is a bar right there and if we are dancing toward the end of the night and we have been drinking we may not notice someone coming in from the bar and grabbing a couple.
